Universal Pictures is showing off a new international trailer for Battleship this week. You can check out the action down below. The summer tent pole stars Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, Rihanna and Asano Tadanobu. Director Peter Berg led the production, based on a screenplay by Erich and Jon Hoeber.
Plot Concept: "Battleship" stars Taylor Kitsch as Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancée; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper's older brother, Commanding Officer Stone of the USS Samson; Rihanna as Lt. Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.
Battleship sails into theaters on May 18, 2012.

Not sure about this one Wise. But hey...it has Liam Neeson in it, I hope he brings some stability to the story.

I am so sick and tired of seeing trailers for this before EVERY. SINGLE. MOVIE! I go to see in theaters. Without fail. I'm sure if I went to some obscure foreign French film release . . . there's the crappy Battleship movie trailer, perhaps even subtitled. Ugh!
Seriously, judging from the trailers alone this is going to be a summer stinker. It's all noise and zero substance. Neeson and Skarsgard in particular look like they're phoning it in for the paycheck.

It looks entertaining to a degree, but I'm wondering if it'll be anything more than that. Based on the trailer, I wouldn't get my hopes up. It does have an aspect of transformers which I wasn't expecting. On a side note, there are no more active battleships in the US Navy, the last ones were decommissioned in 1991-92.
I'm so pissed Liam Neeson is in this because I might actually pay to see this as a result.
You know what started this whole Planetary War? it was that slacker that touched the Ship! Hey gave the ship his human dirty Gloved Cooties and then the Ship, much like the immune system began to fight back. Goes to show you that one touch can star an interplanetary war. Always have a clean pair of gloves, always wash your hands, sanitize, as best as you can don't let this happen to you!
And knowing, is half the Battle!

I don't care about the comparisons some are making to Transformers plus I like Berg's films, well mostly. Too bad it isn't being released in I-Max 3D as well
