New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow have released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming thriller INTO THE STORM. The disaster story arrives August 8th, 2014 and features Richard Armitage (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug), Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead).

Press Release: From New Line Cinema, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, comes the tornado disaster film “Into the Storm.”  Steven Quale (“Final Destination 5”) directs the film, which is produced by Todd Garner (“Zookeeper,” “Knight and Day”).
In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes.  The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come.  Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot.
Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, “Into the Storm” throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.
Quale is directing the film from a screenplay by John Swetnam.  The executive producers are Richard Brener, Walter Hamada, Dave Neustadter, Mark McNair, Jeremy Stein and Bruce Berman.
The film stars Richard Armitage (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”), Sarah Wayne Callies (TV’s “The Walking Dead”), Matt Walsh (“Ted”), Alycia Debnam-Carey (“Where the Devil Hides”), Arlen Escarpeta (“Final Destination 5”), Nathan Kress (TV’s “iCarly”), Jon Reep (“Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay”) and Jeremy Sumpter (“Soul Surfer,” TV’s “Friday Night Lights”).
Quale’s behind-the-scenes creative team consists of several members of his “Final Destination 5” roster, including director of photography Brian Pearson, production designer David Sandefur, editor Eric Sears and composer Brian Tyler, as well as costume designer Kimberly Adams (associate costume designer the “Chronicles of Narnia” films).
New Line Cinema production, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Broken Road production, “Into the Storm.”  The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

CalamityJohnson 3/27/2014 11:47:18 AM

meh... another dime a dozen "just in the nick of time" disaster film of close calls and frivolous destruction.

monkeyfoot 3/27/2014 12:18:11 PM

I don't know if the movie is any good but I think it was a well done teaser.

jonniej1017 3/27/2014 1:28:15 PM

I thought the teaser sucked..  45 seconds of just words?  to me is not exciting.  But i did like the airplanes being thrown around. Thats crazy. I want to know why this is happening befoire i see it.. like The day after tomorrow was because the water was getting warmer from global warming..OK.  and 2012 was the earths core heating up..OK.  what was this about?  Just because??  need to know.

Flyincloud 3/27/2014 1:51:20 PM

This is being done because of the monster tornadoes that his Oklahoma last year.  I think.

We need another Twister :)

OK... 100 ton 747's picked up and thrown around like toys would mean category F5 to F6 sustained updraft speeds. That's one heck of sucking vortex. Interesting visuals, but most likely a very stupid movie.

Well a teaser is a...tease. It's supposed to pique your interest and want to know more. The words are different and went longer than I expected which made me curious to see what would come up. Then we got a flash of spectacular weather destruction and its over. It made me want to know more which is its purpose.

Still, it doesn't say its a good movie.

Haven't watched the vid yet, so I'll comment after I see it, but does anyone else see the Mania Update, Desolation of Smaug (arriving December 13, 2013) at the top of the article?  Or is it just me somehow?
