IRON MAN 2 Has a Lift-Off Date?

In surprising fashion, thespian Terrance Howard might have revealed the scheduled start date for production of Iron Man 2. In an interview about his Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes to Military.com, the actor says production is set to begin in March 2009 for the highly anticipated sequel. The follow-up to last month's smash hit will once again star Robert Downey Jr., Terrance Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow. It will also likely be directed once again by the original's director Jon Favreau though that has yet to be officially confirmed compared to the actors who are signed on board.

Paramount has slated Iron Man 2 to hit theaters April 30, 2010.

The first film opened May 1 on 4,105 theaters and wound up debuting to the sum of $98.6 million. Since then, Paramount has tallied up a worldwide gross of $530.3 million, $288.8 mil of that domestic and $241.4 in foreign theaters. This weekend's international numbers aren't yet in so the gross should grow over the next day or so and when it does, I'll update the numbers here.

2010 is so far awaaay... Damnit.

It is, waaay too far away. And they better bring back Favreau. I'll admit I was surprised, even concerned, when they signed him on, but he did an awesome job and it would suck if he didn't do the next, especially considering he had an idea for three movies already.

It is far away but not as far away as the Celtics beating LA it seems. I hate my life, I hate Boston, I hate Leon Powe, I hate the refs and I hate you all!!!!!!!!

Damn it alllllllllllllllllllllllllll i tell u, damn it alllllllll.

What was this story about? Oh yeah, Iron Man, start up dates don't interest me.

I'm right there with you. The refs were so biased last night.
But the Lakes almost came back didn't they. Hell it's not over till the fat lady sings.

Agreed, the refs didn't do their job last night.

They almost came back? Almost is only good in horseshoes and grenades. YEAH BABY!!
The refs? Always the losers' escape goat. How about when the Lakers don't get off the free throw line at home.
Where my broom at? Am I smelling a sweep? No I'm not. I expect LA to get 2 of the next 3 but is done in 6.
GREEN al the way. CELTICS & HULK rampaging through June.

Favreau coming back I guess is a bygone conclusion for me. In some interviews it sounded as if they had already been tossing ideas arouind for the sequel.

But what if Marvel does get somebody else with the idea of Favreau doing the Avengers film, which he's already hinted at being interested in doing. That may not be that bad either IMO.

IS it far away? yes, but it is no farther than the first one. I think that if you are going to create a good movie it will take time and planning. I can wait. besides there are many things between now and then that will keep us busy.

First off: “it’s not over till the fat lady sings”? – Shaq plays for Phoenix now.

2010 is a long way off in a way but do we really want #2 rushed out prematurely in ’09? I’ll wait thanks. At least we’ll see it before we’re all killed by whatever apocalypse is coming in 2012. I just hope Lost wraps up by then.

And as much as I’m psyched for Favreau to return to IM, I kinda agree with WISEGUY. I’d rest a lot easier if I knew he was bringing us The Avengers.

Celts go to LA to lose 3 straight. Lakers go back to beantown and steal one. Celtics won't win, they got no heart. Seriously.

2 years between movies is good. no need to rush. As long as Chuck Norris is here, there will be no apocalypse in 2012.
