Here's a little something for the Maniacs in or around the Wilmington, North Carolina area. OnLocation and Premiere Casting have revealed that 1,000 extras and 550 crew jobs are needed for the Iron Man 3 production which will be taking place there between May 2012 and January 2013. If you're up for the gig or just want to sneak around and snap a few photos (always appreciated), find out more information here.

The only star to be confirmed at this time is Robert Downey Jr. returning to his title character though we can expect more announcements as we near the production next Spring. His Kiss Kiss Bang Bang director Shane Black is taking over the helming duties this time around, based on a screenplay by Drew Pearce. Walt Disney Pictures will distribute.

Iron Man 3 flies into theaters May 3, 2013.

Thanks to CrazyCEO for the submission.

In theaters May 3 2013? But we won't get to see it - the world will blow-up Dec 21, 2012! Can't they move-up the release date a bit?

Dammit, Miner! You're just spoilin' my fun! First That ancient radio minister told us this past May was the end, then gave us a reprieve 'til this October. We past those Judgment Days and accompaning Raptures and I figured I was safe. Now you remind me of the Mayan Judgment! I feel like the minister in Caddyshack playing golf in a thunderstorm: "The Good Lord wouldn't disrupt the best game of my life!" *BOOM!*

I doubt the world will end before George Lucas and Jim Cameron have a chance to re-release their biggest earners in 3D.  As a matter of fact they've probably committed undisclosed amounts of money to guarantee it won't end before they can each make another billion off that shit.

I'm afraid of Iron Man 3 being the one that makes us all sick of it..........the second film was barely memorable, it wasn't a bad movie, just not as exciting as the first for obvious reasons, but like that'll stop me from seeing it, I'm just not expecting anyting great, especially since Iron Man's reason for existing at this point is to be an Avenger and we'll already have that!!  I can't see IM3 being anything but a dissapointment after an Avengers film.  I hope I'm wrong.

I have the same worries that wish does.  I also wonder if RDJ and company are thinking of this as the conclusion of a trilogy or simply the next movie in the Iron Man franchise.  The trilogy mindset has been the bane of comic book flicks (Spidey, X-Men) and it seems require being followed up by the dreaded re-boot.  I can't believe that I'm actually NOT going to see the next spidey in theaters for exactly this reason.  We should also be wary of what happens to Batman after Nolan wraps up his trilogy this summer.

These characters have too many great stories left to be told, wether original ideas or preferably ones based on past comic storylines. I like that we have new blood coming on board with the director.

And I predict that Marvel will not follow the old standard of a trilogy followed by a reboot. Even if they have to recast the lead role I'm betting that Marvel will just do new storylines without re-doing or re-imagining the characters' origins. They'll do it like the comics, new writers and/or artists but just do their own thing. At worst I can see a tweak here or there to satisfy the needs of their story

Hugely looking forward to this

Two very unrelated comments

1- I don't expect all the new items to make it on to the site but Jarrod needed to post that new clip of the Immortals making its way on the web. It is pure juicy bloody mouth watering eye candy. I've been saying how much I like Singh's style and this doesn't look like it'll disappoint

2- Joe Paterno and his assistant coach need to be fired immediately. Cowardice of this magnitude can't be excused regardless of how clean a program he ran for 40 years. Like that quote “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Shame on him and that coach that went to his daddy first

Hopefully, I'll get to be a SHEILD agent.

Iron Man 3? Mandarin, period. That, if done right, will make it a bad ass movie. That is all I have to say about Iron Man 3.

ElBaz13 11/10/2011 8:57:53 AM

Agree Mandarin should be in this. Now that Iron Man is out of a "realistic" universe thanks to him appearing in a movie with a gamma radiated monster, Asgardians, aliens and super soldiers, I think doing Mandarin at this point doesn't seem as "far fetched" as Favreau pointed out a few years ago.

If they are looking for Iron Man 3 extras, maybe they should get Terrence Howard. :)

Yeah, I was hoping for a BIGGER film in Iron Man 2, I'm hoping they do something extraordinary with this one and introduce something new to the franchise...
