Keep Hawkeye and Black Widow far, far away from this movie.  They are the weakest link in the Avengers flick and the BW character brought nothing to IM2.  I'd be happy to see them dropped from A2 and replaced with some interesting characters.

People want to see Tony Stark/Iron Man.  At least, I do.  The team movie is coming down the pike in a couple of years.

This isn't a team movie.

Hawkeye is still out of arrows and black widow is getting her hair done. Stark is on his own. The one question I DO wonder is. Where the F*CK is SHIELD when all this is going down. He gets wasted and acts like an a-hole they are right there. There is no logic to his house getting attacked by missiles and there is no sign of SHIELD anywhere? Yeah hope they have an explanation for that one.

anyone else thought that sign of the damaged mask was just a bit too resemblant of TDKR?

Ya know, it could be possible that SHIELD or Nick Fury at the very least are involved in this, we simple haven't seen anything or heard anything, maybe there is a whole lot more to the story that we don't know........

Even in The Avengers, Tony/Ironman wanted to do a lot of things on his own, he was reluctant at first to work with anyone else, he flew out after Thor and Loki by himself. It's not hard to imagine that when he's personally attacked, he would want very much to handle it by himself. I'm sure we'll see some cameos though.

I think it's looking good.

Yeah I get it.  I understand the whole deal.  It was just something I thought of.  Like in a real world scenario if I was involved in this universe I might be kinda pissed that I just went through all that shit fighting gods and aliens with my band of merry men and then when I need help myself I'm left high and dry.  Again, I realize this is the way it is.  I was just taking a more real world/realistic look at it and dismissing the comic book/superhero element.  Just a thought that crossed my mind - a hypothetical, if you will.

And I hear what you're saying, InnerSanctum.  I thought they were kinda weak too, especially with Black Widow and her cute little dual pistols.  I wasn't seriously suggesting either one of them should be a part of this story.  I was just using them as examples - like I was saying EVEN if it was JUST Hawkeye or Widow.

But yeah, I was just kinda wondering if there was anyone else here who was never really into comic books and looks at these movies in a bit of a different light - maybe having the same type of thoughts I have.

Call it sacrilege and unlikely, if you wish, but it looks like Iron Man 3 is taking some of its cues from Nolan's Batman 3.  Think about it:  Besides the pre-existing similarities of a millionaire being a costumed hero, Tony Stark - like Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight Rises - is apparently going to face an enemy that already knows who he is (like Bane, Talia Al Ghul and the League of Shados did), have his home destroyed (Bruce's was burned down in Batman Begins and he loses his money in The Dark Knight Rises after Bane's sabotage/fraud on Wall St.) and will have to "come back" from  being defeated somewhere half-way around the world.  I'm sure most of it is coincidence and forgivable, at that, but there do appear to be striking similarities.  I just hope Iron Man 3 doesn't have as many story holes and obvious lapses in logic as The Dark Knight Rises.  Don't get me wrong - I still think Nolan's bat-films make up the best superhero trilogy ever made (on the whole and not having seen IM3 and with IM2 having gotten a lot of bad press), but the third film's story does drop the proverbial ball from time to time and take serious deviations from some things Nolan and cast said and/or promised from the beginning, like having the movies represent only the early years of Batman without Robin and that Cotillard was not playing Talia Al Ghul.  Though, in Cotillard's defense, when she denied playing Talia, it's possible that she hadn't read, let alone filmed, the ending yet - which seems like a bit of a cheap trick, though anyone that remembers how Ra's talked in Batman Begins can see it coming a mile away every time "Miranda Tate" talks about restoring "balance to the world" and the way both she and Bane talks about the fallacy of thinking that money buys power and control.

Anyone else wondering if perhaps they will renew the contract with RD and we might get an Iorn man 4? I mean he is going to be on tap all the way untill avengers 3 right?? we could easily get another IM movie, or 2.

At the end, it sounds like Brandon Routh, was that Cavill?
