Marvel Entertainment has taken back the film rights to the comic book character IRON MAN. They are possibly looking to raise the money themselves to produce the film.

Marvel is looking to find the right "creative talent" to attach to the project and if they do then they would raise the money and license the film for distribution.

David Hayter and Alfred Gough & Miles Millar have written various drafts of the script but Marvel plans to start from scratch.

...and I suddenly worry for some reason.

Remember when everyone was excited about a comic being made into a movie? Ah, good ol' times...

Is anyone else getting sick of 'the Weatherman' banner on this page with Nicolas Cage's overdone 'poor me' look on his face? Gee, will this movie suck too?

Actually... as a fan of Marvel's "The Avengers" this pleases me. Marvel set up a deal with Paramount recently to produce their own movies and Paramount to distribute it. The characters in that deal included Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Captain America and The Avengers. Iron Man was a founding member of the Avengers, with this deal the chances are raised that he could make in into an Avengers flick.

I saw on the marvel website that they are going to produce an Ultimates direct to dvd feature next year.

The feature will be titled Ultimate Avengers, it will be an animated feature, it will be available on Feb. 06.

Well that seems to put the kabosh on Tom Cruise's plans to take up the role of the crimson & gold Avenger now does it? He SOOOO wanted to play this Marvel character for so long and made it well known he wanted the part. Now if Iron Man is part of a greater Avengers movie he would HAVE to share in the spotlight with other stars and not receive all the light and all the glory for just himself. I guess this is what happens when movie studios get the rights formarvel characters but instead of acting on it they sit on the potty way too long to develop it. As for me I'm waiting for them to do a credible Dr. Strange movie. Hey dragon any idea what the lineup of Marvel characters are going to be for the Ultimate Avengers animated and is it going to be in the class of adult animation as JLA/JLU is or will it be another redux of that whimpy Avengers version they came out with a decade ago with?

The lineup will be..Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Wasp, Giantman and Captain America. According to the website the movie will more geared toward adults in the same vein as JSU. If it's a success it will probably be pitched to one of the networks.

I was looking forward to an Iron Man movie...but this can't be good at all. Should I fear the return of a direct to video version a la The Punisher from back in the day...
