Variety reports that the success of Marvel's first outing as a studio, 'Iron Man' has had a positive effect on those at the top of the heap.
Kevin Feige has been promoted from president of production to president and David Maisel has been contracted to continue as chairman of the film division through 2010.
According to Variety:
...Maisel joined Marvel in 2003 and was named chairman of Marvel Studios last year. He is credited with having set up Marvel's film initiative and securing a $525 million loan to finance the effort. He serves as an executive producer on both 'Iron Man' and company's second self-financed and produced pic, 'The Incredible Hulk,' which Universal will distrib June 13.
We here at Comics2Film first encountered Feige when he was working with producer Lauren Shuler Donner. There he was instrumental in guiding the first 'X-Men' movie to the big screen. After the success of that film he transitioned to Marvel working under Avi Arad to shepherd an amazing string of hit movies.
A big congrats to Kevin!
