"Iron Man" Website Now Live

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Friday, December 22, 2006

Iron Man now has a website, and a logo to go with it.

You can find it here.

Similar to other Marvel comic book films, Iron Man will be released in early May.

The film from Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment has staked claim to the May 2, 2008 release date. Iron Man will be helmed by Jon Favreau and is based on the Marvel Comics character where an accident leaves alcoholic billionaire Tony Stark to create a suit of armor to save his life.

Not much news here, but I will take this time out to say I really like the casting thus far for the film.  That is all.

still love who they casted as iron man, seeing that Downey Jr had real demons of his own the drugs and booze, ala Tony Stark, but sans the drugs...cant wait...just do the suit some justice.......

I hope Downey gets into good shape for this at least.

Downey doesn't need to be in shape! Tony Starks is an alcoholic with a heart condition that uses a suit of armor and mechanics to stay alive. All the strength and physique he needs is in the suit.

I agree with godsonfilm. Tony Stark may be as rich or more so than Bruce Wayne, but they have completly different mindsets. Bruce trained himself to physical perfection, using gadgets to assist him take down evil doers. Bruce plays the part of the soft millionaire playboy to cover his true identity as Batman. Tony is the soft millionaire who is also a drunk with a heart condition. Tony created a cheast plate to save his life, and became Iron Man out of a need for adventure. Out of the suit just about anybody would be able to take Stark out.

Downey does need to be in shape! Are you kidding me? Do you even read comic books? Tony Starks is the Marvel equivelent to Bruce Wayne. Playboy Billiionairre, Ladies Man. Did you read the latest Civil War: Iron Man versus Captain America? Tony drops his armor to fight Cap. You have to be in top physical form to at least attempt to go toe to toe with Cap. Do your research before you use exclamations in your statements!!!

I imagine they'll shoot in the mindset of what happened in Spider-Man. Have Downey be all fat and pale prior to being Iron Man and then years later or the what not he's buff.

And I concur with everyone...Downey is a phenomenal choice...totally out of the blue

My concern now is what the suit will look like, maybe with the web site up, soon they will show the suit's final design. That will determine if I see this on the big screen or wait until the DVD release.

Downey doesn't have to look like a world class athlete, but he does have to be "in shape." He's a playboy posterchild for vanity, so yeah, he does have to have a good look. The casting's inspired with Downey and Howard. It's so early in the game, but I think Iron Man's going to be a smart, entertaining movie. Oh, and (in the Marvel Universe) an unarmed Stark has absolutely no chance against Cap without the armor. A comic that shows otherwise is a joke.

Downey's always been in decent physical shape anyway. How? I have NO idea.

The poster is phenomenal but as dragon261 smartly pointed out "My concern now is what the suit will look like ... That will determine if I see this on the big screen ..."

I ADORE that poster and THAT is how I see Iron Man on screen.

Menacing and powerful to those that can only see as far as the depth of the outer suit will permit and present, unware of the vulnerable psyche of the man inside it, regardless if he is a billionaire, playboy or runs Stark International.

My concern is how Downey Jr. will pull it and the crimson & gold Avenger off.

If he comes off as too weak and wussy both as Stark and/or Iron Man then the sequel will struggle to make it greenlighted by the studios IF it isn't cancelled outright.

If he does the role and the legend well then we can expect Iron Man II.

Like I said in the Silver Surfer news article also transposes here as well. It depends how the armor looks like but ultimately how the characters translate on screen.
