Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb announced casting for two of the company's much anticipated anime series, IRON MAN and WOLVERINE, at its WonderCon panel today in San Francisco to the delight of fans in attendance. Both series will premiere on G4 in July 2011.
Adrian Pasdar (Heroes, Castle, Profit) will lend his voice to the character of Tony Stark in IRON MAN, an all-new series which sees Stark travel to Japan and battle the evil Zodiac Organization.
Milo Ventimiglia (Gilmore Girls, Rocky Balboa, Heroes), takes on the title role in WOLVERINE, as Logan claws his way through Japan's criminal underworld.
"Adrian and Milo are perfect as Iron Man and Wolverine," said Loeb. "It's extremely exciting to see these talented guys take on two of the most iconic Super Hero roles of all time.”
As the exclusive US TV home for the series, G4 will air IRON MAN and WOLVERINE along with the BLADE and X-MEN anime series later this year. The network will premiere an exclusive clip from WOLVERINE on Wednesday's Attack of the Show at 7 pm ET/PT. For more information, check out check out

Hey, who's pushing in on Chris' territory?

I'm sure I'll give this a shot but just not a fan of the anime art. So they have to be pretty good to keep me watching I think

LOL Wolverine looks so funny in anime form to me.

i really think the anime style would suit the Blade character and story pretty well...lots of swordplay, guns and hand-to-hand combat...i think it suits Wolverine pretty well also, although i wasn't blown away by the little trailer or whatever they had for him...i have a feeling that the footage wasn't from the final thing though, sort of seemed more like an exhibition piece of action to give a general idea...could be wrong tho...

now that i think about it...mech anime fits Iron Man pretty well too...and i was definitely more impressed with the Iron Man anime footage than Wolverine...

definitely plan on checking out all 4 when i can

Wiseguy, u ever seen Gotham Knight? pretty cool, Batman done in some different anime styles, each a contrast from the others...might find a style u like, never know....

Wiseguy 4/3/2011 2:25:11 PM

Lsn22s, yeah to be honest I dug Gotham Knight and Animatrix. If I'm interested enough I'll overlook the anime and just enjoy the story. There are several animes that I love, like Battle Angel, Vampire Hunter D and Blood The Last Vampire to name a few. It's like I said if it's good enough for my taste I'll watch.

It's just something about the pointy noses and spiked hair and huge eyes that annoys me. Not to mention that so many animes seem to be unneccesarily convoluted  to a point that is laughable at times, IMHO :)

Lsn22s 4/3/2011 6:43:33 PM

yeah...Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust and Blood Last Vampire are a couple of my favorites....i agree with u about the convoluted plots entirely, some animes are way more out there than others, as well as some of the art styles...never really dug extra angular characters or gigantic eyes either, and there's definitely plenty of it...when it comes to anime it seems folks tend to find a style/genre they like and stick to it...hmmm...u might like Ninja Scroll, Sword of the Stranger, Afro-Samurai (series or sequel-movie) or Spriggan on the action side of for strong story (and more traditional/western or less pointy character model styles) u might like Steamboy, Metropolis, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Memories or Howl's Moving Castle...hey maybe u never end up getting to check them out, but if u do decide to dabble, those are pretty good starting points for viewing some quality anime, IMHO :P

really hoping the Marvel stuff kicks-@ss, Marvel Comics and Japanese anime have brough me great joy separately over the years, the combination really has piqued my's hoping they turn out awesome like they should :)

I like the Iron Man Armor, but Tony Stark looks pretty lame. Wolverine on the other hand looks ridiculous.

Darkknight2280 4/4/2011 4:21:12 AM

Whats wrong with Japan sometimes? I mean WTF did they do to Wolverine! And Tony Stark look slike Gologo 13 and Donald Trumps love child! Horrible character designs!

tiredjay 4/4/2011 5:43:43 AM

The Wolverine anime's pretty good.  Pretty true to the comics, albeit if JoeMad was doing it, and the character design looks better animated.  Comes off more like Hugh Jackman, which would be more familiar to a Japanese audience.

Can't really say the same for the Iron Man anime, though.

ultrazilla2000 4/4/2011 6:17:25 AM

That's funny you say that, tiredjay...because I felt the exact opposite!  I really enjoyed the Iron Man anime series, and felt the style suited the character.  Where as with Wolverine, I thought it an ok series, but his look really bothered me.  He's too lean and baby smooth.  Wolverine is a muscled, burly man!   When Wolverine looks like he shaves his body in the bath tub, something hasn't transitioned well.

I'll watch.  As a kid I was starved for this stuff.  I had to sit through the Super Friends.  I don't care whether its bad, good or different.  To me, it's better than nothing.
