Isabella dives into EARTHSEA role

Actress first to be cast in new sci-fi mini-series

Isabella Rossellini (DEATH BECOMES HER) is the first name to be announced in The Sci Fi Channel's adaptation of Ursula K. Le Guin's EARTHSEA mini-series. The dark-haired actress will play High Priestess Thar, one of the many wizards that populate the island of Roke.

First published in 1968, Le Guin's EARTHSEA trilogy is considered by many to be among the staples of modern fantasy. The story is set in a land where a young man named Sparrowhawk seeks training in the magical arts. During his schooling the young magic user accidentally frees a dangerous creature into the world and it falls upon him to right the mistake by learning it's name.

Sci Fi plans on broadcasting the four-hour mini sometime in December.
