It's a FAR CRY for HOUSE OF THE DEAD helmer

Director Uwe Boll has another video game movie project -- his fifth so far in development. His company's latest acquisition is Crytek's upcoming horror genre first-person shooter FAR CRY, slated for release next month. Boll wants to make a $25 million dollar FAR CRY movie sometime in 2005, presumably after he's finished his commitments for the BLOODRAYNE, DUNGEON SIEGE, FEAR EFFECT and HUNTER: THE RECKONING (those last two vid game-to-film projects just announced last month!) And that's not counting any post-production work he still has to do for ALONE IN THE DARK or plans for a sequel to HOUSE OF THE DEAD, his first feature based on a video game.
Shawn Williamson, Boll's producing partner at Brightlight Pictures, will also collaborate on the FAR CRY movie. Williamson had this to say to The Hollywood Reporter about the announcement, and we're sure no pun was intended when he said it: "The story will be incredibly frightening."
