After months of rumors, innuendo and vitriolic diatribes, it's been confirmed that the powers that be at Twentieth Century Fox have tapped RESIDENT EVIL and EVENT HORIZON director Paul Anderson to write and direct the years-in-development ALIENS VS. PREDATOR.
Producers for both series, John Davis, David Giler, Lawrence Gordon, Walter Hill and Joel Silver among them, have decided Anderson is the man to bring the project, rumored and delayed so many times it's almost become akin to FREDDY VS. JASON in Hollywood's development Hell, to the screen.
According to VARIETY, the story will center on a human scientist on a distant planet producing an alien in the hopes of luring the PREDATOR hunters to the planet.
The rumor about Anderson and ALIENS VS. PREDATOR has been around for a few months, drawing reactions on the Internet more rabid and extreme (and not flattering to Anderson) than the usual web-reader reactions.
How that will affect the film, we'll see.
