Dreamworks has bought the rights to an odd romantic comedy titled VALENTINE'S DAY.

The film, from filmmaker Don Handfield, follows a troubled couple forced to relive Valentine's Day over and over again until they get it right.

The premise sounds eerily similar to that of GROUNDHOG DAY.

So why not write it as a sequel to Groundhog Day? Cast Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell as an older couple going through marital disharmony on V-Day. Sure it'll be a sequel but that's better than a blatant ripoff any day. Plus it'll cater to an older, more mature audience with the older leads. Even though it's a sequel it'll be fresh in that respect instead of using some crappy 20-something year old actors. At least I think so.

"Eerily similar"? Hmm, methinkest, it sounds almost exactly like GrounDhog Day. The only difference is there are 2 people instead of 1 and it won`t be anywhere near as funny, because Bill Murray isn't in it. Come on Don, how about some originality?

No the premise is EXACTLY that of Groundhog Day. All they've done is move it up 12 days on the calendar.
Cause really the second storyline in Groundhog Day is Murray trying to seduce Andie McDowell's character and find love. The main story being to be happy and find contentment within yourself.

Heck Hollywood sucks at ideas. This movie is Groundhog Day. In the same month, same concept, love story enhanced, toss in some young hot actors and present to an audience who's most likely never heard of Groundhog Day. Viola! "New" movie

Yup, did they take the Groundhog Day script, white out a few lines, and change the title???

Dreamworks, we're all waving concern flags here.
And I think I'm going to go buy the DVD of Groundhog Day now, thanks for the reminder!

Back in 1994, we rented the movie (Groundhog Day) and watched it four times in a row (followed by Lair of the White Worm and Hellraiser). That was one whacked out weekend. Ah memories.

Are you sure you really watched it 4 times or was your day just repeating?
Either way I too love GROUNDHOG DAY.
