Its A Wonderful Life Sequel Planned

Blasphemy, plain and simple

I thought that Hollywood had run out of ideas when I read about the Ghost TV show that was in the works (read here). Now, in what can only be fueled by greed that rivals Mr. Potter, Star Partners and Hummingbird Prods. are collaborating on a sequel to It's A Wonderful Life. Yes, a SEQUEL! It what can only be seen as the worst idea since the official Christmas Story 2 sequel, Hollywood is attempting a sequel of one of the most beloved films ever made.

“The sequel, titled ‘It’s a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story,’ is being financed by Allen J. Schwalb of Star Partners who will also produce along with Bob Farnsworth of Hummingbird. The duo are aiming to get the movie into theaters for the 2015 holiday season.

Karolyn Grimes, who played George Bailey’s daughter ‘Zuzu’ in the original, will return for the ‘Wonderful Life’ sequel as an angel who shows Bailey’s unlikeable grandson (also named George Bailey) how much better off the world would have been had he never been born”. - Variety

Wow so they got the only surviving cast member to play an angel. Frank Capra, the original's director, had a sequel in mind a long time ago. Thankfully, that never came to fruition. However, at least Capra would have been the logical choice to direct and probably gotten Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed involved. This just makes me disgusted. Sound off below.

Grumpy Cat has a word for this.

This is one of the dumbest movie ideas I've heard in a long time.  It's insulting because they must believe that people are stupid enough to pay to see a steaming pile like this.  There is absolutely nothing they can do to recapture and build upon the magic of the original.  Dumb, dumb, dumb!

I have no words. It seems Hollywood studio execs truly are all on drugs.

dojen1 11/19/2013 9:39:32 AM

...and not good drugs at that.

Why cant this be it's own movie like Nicolas Cage's The Weather Man . So much time haspassed since the first one no need to call this a sequel

There is nothing sacred?

As much as I'm not a big fan of remakes of classics, I would rather have a remake than a sequel to this.

What next? Citizen Kane 2: The Return of Rosebud?

I could not care less. I've never seen the movie and won't see this.

There's already been a sequel of sorts called "Clarence", starring Robert Carradine, who played Lewis in "Revenge of the Nerds", as the titular angel from "It's a Wonderful Life"...never saw it, but noticed the VHS box on the shelf of a video store.  Probably won't be seeing this one either.

Never saw the original, couldn't give a rat's a$$ about a sequel.

I say every geek/nerd/fanboy - whichever term you prefer - should see "It's a Wonderful Life" at least once just so you can appreciate how such a HUGE box office flop (and it was when it was released) came to somehow be an American holiday treasure.  Just weird.
