Did anybody catch this movie? is it worth my time? I think Singer is a talented director, but

the reviews were mesh

I got dragged by my wife to see it.  It's not bad, but not great by any means, just so so.  I really don't know what Bryan Singer was thinking with this one.  Hopefully he'll be back to form with the new X-Men.

Given that these whacked, highly stylized and turn into over-the-top re-telling of old tales hasn't worked is an indication that these studios just simply need to do one thing and especially after the gun-toting, high advanced weaponry actioner Hansel and Gretel..... STOP IT!!!

I mean seriously, what are we gonna see next? So I've compiled a list of concepts Hollywood has on their drawing board that they could actually be thinking about.

Three Blind Mice with a Vengeance - Directed by Michael Bay

Humpty Dumpty and the Great Big Fall - Directed by Ben Affleck

The Three Pigs Rises - Directed by Christopher Nolan

Peter and the Furious Fanged Wolf - Directed by Luc Besson

Spike Lee Presents The Legendary Curse of the Golden Touch: The Untold Story of King Midas

Just stop it.  Stop It. STOP IT... STOP IT... STOP IT!!!!

$29 for the DVD!? What is it 2001? The Hobbit 3D Bluray was $29 when it was released, WTF!!!???

Wiseguy 4/21/2013 11:04:13 AM

I think the trailers pretty much showed the tone and what you'd get here. If that didn't do it for you then I'd say don't bother til it's on cable.

Me? I got exactly what I thought and I enjoyed myself for 2 hours and for me it helped that I saw it in I-Max 3D

Looked like a made-for-tv movie. Not only does the cgi look outdated and generic, I will also wait for it to be on cable before I give it a shot. (Or netflix)

"made for tv" is no longer a slight...Modern (continous story) TV series kicks the sh*t out of movies.  I don't care if a movie last for close to 3 hours (a long time to sit in one place without falling asleep or having to relieve yourself) it can't weave a tale like a good TV series.  There's nothing in the theatres that holds a candle to Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Homeland, etc.  It's like comparing a side salad to the main course.

The only thing movies have going for them is that (if you elect to see them in a theatre and put up with the talking, texting, farting and the guy who takes up all the room on the armrest) they are still a cheap date...and nothing you have in your living room can equal the IMAX 3-D experience.

It would be a shame to see the recently released Oblivion, or upcoming blockbusters like Pacific Rim, Star Trek Into the Darkness, and Man of Steel any other way (than Imax).  Like Wiseguy said...this presentation is so awesome that it made Jack the Giant Slayer enjoyable.

Mossy1221 4/22/2013 4:11:27 AM

Let me rephrase that, blankczech... It looks like a, made-for-tv, Sci-Fi channel movie.

Those of you that live near an imax are very fortunate. The closes imax to me is over 75 miles way.
