So we're gonna see Costner as Clark in this movie, and probably Without Remorse.  How does Tom Hardy play into this?  Are they gonna do a prequel after WR, or will Costner be in it and the movie will be a flashback, or what?  I bet Tom Hardy displays more talent and charisma while sleeping than Costner does on screen.

Costner isn't playing Clark but rather something closer to a mentor if I read it correctly a couple of days back

I'm excited for this to be honest. I never read all the books but they were very interesting, hopefully the films can live up to the expectations.

I really loved Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan.
He nailed the character as written in Hunt for Red October and I was disappointed they didn't keep using him.

Harrison Ford was an interesting take on him, but still prefer Baldwin.
Can't say I like Afleck's version that much, there seemed to be a certain quality missing from his rendition that I can't quite put my finger on.

And I'm not sure that I'm excited about Chris Pine doing this.

I don't mind that they are doing an origin story of sorts, but I agree the name has gotta change.
Clancy is one of my favorite authors, and he has a ton of material to pull from, so they should be able to put together some decent stories for this lineup.

I like Pine and Hardy a lot, they are some of the better male leads to hit it big lately and they both have good diversity when it comes to range of roles from drama to action or comedy, they are both pretty good at all and I for one really enjoyed the one they did together, This Means War, I thought it was funny as hell!  But I have to agree with the earlier comment that Afleck and Schrieber deserved another shot at these characters.

It sounds like when they cast Costner for this they also signed him to the spinn-off........of Without Remorse, so that's very good news to hear they are making that adaptation.  Great book.

In the early stages of a relationship with a guy 25 years my junior (I am 45, he is 20), when we met on cougar dating site,Cougarkissing.//c0'm I have to say that the comment about these guys unable to get with a girl their own age has to be way off. My man is very sexy, hot and popular and I’m amazed that he wants to be with me…but also believe he does. My main concern is not other people but my family of 3 children age 10 to 17, do any others have stories of “what the family thinks”?

Gee , theres been four Jack Ryans in 20 years now . Dont know if Chris Pine will as good as say Alec Balwin or Harrison Ford , but much better than Affeclk in the role. What character Costner will play isnt said yet , Having Hardy playing Clark will be good , yeah both 'without remorse and  Ranbow Six " would be my choice also to make into moviesand having Kenneth Brangh is a plus .

(You'll never guess) sounds like a james bond title for a movie, don't really like it...

Betenoire 8/24/2012 10:13:41 PM

I dislike the title, but hey it isn't like it can't change.

Beyond that I'm neutral on Pine thought he did fine in Star Trek and given this is pre-Ryan even for Red October so it gives him time to bring some weight to the role. I was going to say I wasn't down with Hardy as Clark as I thought Clark was considerable older than Ryan but after a brief bit of research he is only 6 years the other man's senior so I'm OK with both.

...but man, that _title_...
