Jackie Chan has a new action-comedy on the horizon, months after recently starring alongside Jet Li in The Forbidden Planet. Relativity Media and veteran director Brian Levant have hired the martial arts icon to star in The Spy Next Door, says The Hollywood Reporter. The production company has Jonathan Bernstein and Jim Greer penning the screenplay. Robert Simonds (Pink Panther, Wedding Singer) will produce the film alongside Relativity's Ryan Kavanaugh. Tucker Tooley and Solon So will executive produce.

Plot Concept: The story centers on a man (Chan) who is called to baby-sit his neighbor's children and winds up having to fight off secret agents after one of the kids inadvertently downloads a secret code.

So it's the sequel to The Pacifier? Nice! Can we get a Vin Diesel cameo?

"The Forbidden Planet"? That's Kingdom. I zipped over to imdb to check a listing for a remake. They could never remake The Forbidden Planet right?

So he is reduced to kiddie movies now.

You say reduced. I say revitalize the career. Diesel basically didn't have a career any more before he did The Pacifier. Eddie Murphy had pretty much tanked his career before doing Daddy Day Care. Of course, he has since ruined any career he had built since then, but that's a whole other story.

Chan already has done quite a few kiddie movies. He just isn't the attraction he used to be. Thanks to the "wire play" everyone can do kung fu these days hence the demand for his skills has diminished, IMO. Add to that the he can't act or speak decent English

Correction... Chan can act his kung fu ass off in his language. It doesn't translate well in english because there is a different cinematic style and like you said, he doesn't speak the language or get the tonal differences. See the movie Thunderbolt, as one example. He killed that role and it wasn't comedy.

Jackie Chan kicks ass....not as much anymore, but still rocks. I really like him in his fish out of water movies like Rush Hour or Shanghai Noon. His older movies like Police Story, Crime Story, Operation Condor, First Strike, Super Cop, Thunderbolt, Who Am I?....his newer movies like Robin-B-Hood are not so good. His American movies are hit or miss.

I'm through with Jackie Chan, if you have seen one of his movies you have seen them all, ya he kicks ass and has put some good action sequences together but Steven Chow is the man now and not only does he to kick ass but he is a talented writer/director and has great timing for comedy also, I mean Kung Fu Hustle was/is the shit...
