The CINESCAPE Interview

James Cameron Crows ...

Stepping out onto the balcony of the 26th floor of the St. Regis Hotel in Century City, Calif., with James Cameron provides an enlightening moment. As the sun sets and the moon slowly rises in the distance, the sky is neither night nor day, and the TITANIC creator's wheels are still turning even though there isn't a camera anywhere in sight.

"This is exactly the type of time you want to shoot your helicopter shots," explains Cameron of the film technique used in getting those great panoramic cityscape. Not surprisingly, Cameron still lives and breaths the filmmaking process, even when he's just hanging out and enjoying the view.

Based on the lack of theatrical releases bearing his name since winning the Oscar in 1999 for TITANIC, you might think Cameron has been doing just that relaxing on some exotic beach, drinking margaritas and waiting for his muse to kick in. But he says that couldn't be further from the truth.
