James McAvoy joins "Star Trek XI"?

According to the British tabloid Sunday Mail, James McAvoy is likely to be given the role of Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the upcoming J.J. Abrams film, Star Trek XI.
"[The studio] thinks [McAvoy] could form a brilliant double act with Matt [Damon, rumored to play Kirk]," said the Sunday Mail. "James's star is on the rise after The Last King of Scotland. He's Scottish and has box-office appeal, so he fulfills both criteria."
KJ's Take: Obviously you have to take this with a very large grain of salt as the British tabloids are hardly a reliable source. That said, they do have their informants and you can't rule out the possibility.
The casting does make sense as it seems likely Paramount will cast someone with a Scottish accent in the role.
