James Spader is Ultron

Official News!

Well that was a quick turn around. Yesterday Unleash the Fanboy was speculating that Paul Bettany was going to be the voice of Ultron. They believed that Bettany’s character of the A.I. Jarvis was going to become Ultron.
Today Marvel.com announced that James Spader (Stargate, The Office) has been cast as Utlron.
“James Spader will face off against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as the villain in Marvel’s "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the sequel to 2012’s record-breaking "Marvel’s The Avengers." The Emmy Award-winning actor will play Ultron in the Avengers’ much anticipated return to the big screen from writer/director Joss Whedon. The film comes to theaters on May 1, 2015”.

That's an interesting theory. It might work for the upcoming movie but the Jarvis/Ultron theory is not consistant with what we have read in the comic books.

I like the connection and different take on Ultron but Jarvis' voice isn't menacing enough; I wonder if they would opt for a transition to new voice talent?

This does make perfect sense for the movie universe, but if it's true it might be quite the giant spoiler.....depending on how they were thinking of revealing it of course.

MANIACS, we have updated the POST! Spader is Ultron!

My biggest hope for this character is that they do not give him a moving mouth.  Spader will be cool in the voicing, but it is going to be synthesized anyway to give it an electronic sound.  It should sound inhuman and soulless, not like a famous actor reciting lines, and menacing as hell without an iota of morals.

I remember the first time I saw Spader on screen. It was a great movie years ago called "2 Days In the Valley." He played a hitman and did an excellent job at being a badass. I've actually found myself comparing some hitman type movies to his part in that. I've seen him in several things since then, but that one is the one that sticks out most. I think he'll do Ultron justice.

Leave it to Marvel to just piss on DC/WB's villian announcement!! HAHA!  James Spader Has the perfect aloof voice that is needed for Ultron.  Not a menacing voice, cause he's an A.I. robot that believes humans are beneath him.  This is good news.  Lets sign the other two so we have our twins!! Keep up the good work Marvel!

James plays a great jerk. Look at Pretty in Pink. He plays a rich snob and thinks everyone is beneath him. Same as in Less then Zero and he was a jerk in Mannequin too. He will be great as Ultron.

2 Days in the Valley was awesome movie btw.

A great casting!!  Marvel is showing DC/WB the way...but no one over there is paying attention.  Sad...I was a DC Fan first, but have been leaning Marvel over the last 5-6 years.

He sounds good to me.
