Thomas Jane (The Punisher) will topline the $35 million action-thriller Run, reports Variety. The film is to be directed by action mastermind John McTiernan (Die Hard, Predator)  for Arclight Films, based on a screenplay penned by Jonah Loop. Michael Pierce and Mark Williams are set to produce while Hamilton and Simon Fawcett of Aramid Capital will executive produce. Production will begin in Argentina on April 14.

"This is an unrelenting action-thriller in true McTiernan style, creating acrobatic mayhem in exotic locales," said Hamilton. "BMW has come onboard to provide the cars, and Roush Performance is designing a Super Mustang for the film, setting up what will be a spectacular vehicle stunt-action chase
movie," he added.

"This is an exciting thriller, which just happens to unravel as cars chase each other at over 120 mph," said Pierce.

Awesome,,,I love Thomas Jane,,,and movies like this are my favorite. Mindless action movies with sick stunts and over the top action,,,,,I can't wait. Speaking of which, I just saw Shoot 'Em Up last night, and totally loved it......so much fun.....so over the top and crazy sick action. I love movies that don't take themselves seriously. Just sick crazy action....I think thats why I likeTorque so much also.....Also, has anyone seen the Patrick Dempsy movie of the same name, RUN, on DVD...I used to love that movies as a kid.

Anybody else think it odd that a movie described as "a spectacular vehicle stunt-action chase movie" is called Run?

Well, seeing as McTiernan is the king of smart action films...I'm there!

120mph is cruising speed.

Also, a new John McTiernan movie is not the cause for celebration that it was in the 80s.

And production will start, I assume, right after McTiernan gets out of prison on his obstruction of justice conviction...

VerbalKent,

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the plot involves a "run" of sorts, i.e. a heist, that leads to the series of chases.

I personally think it's been far too long since we last had McTiernan make a movie. What was his last film, Rollerball? Yeah, he needs to redeem himself for that one.

That *is* odd, VerbalKent. Also, when I first saw the headline, I thought someone was talking about a remake of the old Patrick Dempsey movie. Anyone else remember that? It was actually a pretty decent flick. Young hot Kelly Preston, too. Last I checked, couldn't find it on DVD, though. That may have changed with Dempsey's recent Grey's success...
