Star Wars in 2015, 2016, 2017...

One film a year starting in 2015

By Robert T. Trate     April 17, 2013

Big news came out of CinemaCon yesterday pertaining to Star Wars. reported that Disney plans on releasing an “Episode” film every other year. In between those years will be a stand alone Star Wars film. Episode VII will most likely star the original cast members, these stand alone films are another matter. What or who these stand alone films will be about is open to speculation. Already rumors of a Seven Samurai type Jedi film have surfaced. There has also been talk of a Yoda film as well. Rumors have also persisted on a Boba Fett film and a young Han Solo picture too. Are Screenwriters Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class) working on other Star Wars projects in addition to Episode VIII and IX?

Anything is possible at this point. A year ago if someone would have told me that a new Star Wars film was in the works I would have laughed in their face. What worries me, as a Star Wars fan, is over kill. Those first three movies had years in between their release. Part of their charm was the speculation of what was going to happen next. It made each one special. One every other year with a Star Wars off shoot film to boot sounds more like wishful thinking. Then again look at Disney’s other big property, The Avengers. Avengers 2 isn’t until 2015, but until then we have Iron Man 3 this summer, Thor 2 this November, and Captain America 2 in the Spring of 2014. That template seems to be working just fine.

Sound off below Maniacs!

The ONLY bad thing about this news is that you realize that someday you're gonna die, and NOT be able to watch episode #50, or Yoda #22 and  etc.

i say bring them all on!!! Ill take as many Disney- produced Star Wars feasts I can fit in my belly....Good or bad!!!

TY Mickey Mouse!!

I'm with violator, totally.  People seem to love quoting "I have a bad feeling about this" in relation to this announcement, but all I know is that for the first time since 1998, I'm actually excited about Star Wars...and the feeling is GREAT.

I think we've already seen with the Phantom Menace that there can be too much Star Wars.

All Phantom Menace proved was that there can be too much George Lucas.  The guy who made Phantom Menace is not the same guy who made Star Wars, BEFORE it was called "A New Hope."  The two best movies, according to general consensus, are Empire and Jedi, neither of which were directed by him.

Um, Phantom Menace was the first new SW in a long while, stupid. How is that too much? Good or not.

All Phantom Menace proved to me was that some characters need to stay in drawing board. Outside of that (JJ Binks) most everything else was golden

Oh and yeah...what violator said

"Why-za peoples allatime a hatins on Jar Jar? Meeza thinkin you no like Gungans cuz we so special. Weeza make popcorn moviez time superz!"

The wait between Empire and Jedi almost killed me.  If nothing else, this sounds promising to say the least.  I really like the Tales of the Bounty Hunters and Tales from Mos Eisley Cantina, and would like those kind of stories up on the big screen.

GL was heavily  involved ROTJ, and I would say Episodes IV & V are considered the best.
