New Line has set a release date for their upcoming FRIDAY THE 13TH re-imagining and that day is Friday, February 13, 2009. This day also happens to be the release date for the Universal remake of THE WOLFMAN, starring Benicio Del Toro with make-up effects done by Rick Baker. Universal has already moved the release of their Wolfman project once. Perhaps, this means it will get moved again.

If not, both horror remakes will be going up against each other on that Valentines holiday...

It was announced earlier in the week that Marcus Nispel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) is now set to direct this project from a screenplay written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Freddy vs. Jason).

How clever.

So, is Jason going to be in this or is the killer going to be his mom again? I don't see how a reimagining can pack the same punch as the original.

I hope they at least get Kane Hodder back as Jason in this in name only remake.

But nothing about this film seems to make sense, so I guess it doesn't matter.

I honestly would rather see them do a prequel and go all the way back to a twisted childhood into the killer

"I honestly would rather see them do a prequel and go all the way back to a twisted childhood into the killer "

They aready did that in Zombie's Halloween, and it didn't work. If just turned Mike Meyers' childhood into a Lifetime Channel Victim-of-the-week TV movie cliche with everything from the drunken step father to the mean bullies to the stripper mom. BAD BAD BAD.

I'd rather just see a 'Friday the 13th Part 12' picking up where 'Freddy vs Jason' left off.

I am cool with this....It will be cool t see how they update it. I just hope they kep the feel of the orginal movies and how Jason always had clever and inventive ways to kill people. I bet the get Tyler Mane to play Jason. He has the size.

I know what my sweetie and I will be doing on Valentine's Day--watching people get butchered. C'est l'amour!

Get Kane, since they dissed him for the Freddy Vs Jason movie . But they'll prob screw him over again. Just isn't right. He is Jason !

I agree with bringing back Kane.

It is crazy that a movie would actually be released like this! What are they thinking?? First Grindhouse released on a famiy weekend, then Halloween at the beginning of the school year and now this. Shouldn't it be released on Wednesday the 25th or something?

I think it would be awesome if they did some special promotions/screenings to promote this timely release.
