Another comic adaptation of author Steve Niles will soon be hitting theaters soon and they have a director picked out, reports Shock Til You Drop. The site is reporting that Jay Russell (Ladder 49, The Water Horse) is set to lead Niles' Wake the Dead comic to the big screen, based on a screenplay by James V. Hart (Bram Stoker's Dracula).

Director Russell and 30 Days of Night creator Niles have been working together on bringing WtD to the big screen for some years now, according to the report above.

"Me and Jay have been working for three or four years now to get this going. All through him doing The Water Horse. And we've just been steadily hammering away at it. He's always had a consistent vision and he knows this is a modern re-telling of Frankenstein. It's grim death. It's about as far from My Dog Skip as you can get."

To even add to it the angle, Russell created a montage of Wake the Dead moments to show us what tone he wants to use as his directorial-led emotional canvas. Check it out below and for more information, click the link above.

Never read this comic, but I'd definitely see something like this.

The tone of the montage seems "romantic horror", which is my type of romance movie. Bram Stoker's Dracula had a good screenplay (while some not as good performers). Anyway, Looks promising.
