Will Smith is the New CAPTAIN AMERICA? - Sep 09, 2008 - 06:35am
All this is just a rumor. Let's face it, in the world of today, yes we could adapt new situations or evolutions of our world into a movie so it can be politically correct. But in this case (just like many other), it's not something that should be suggested. Asking for Captain America to be black is like asking Optimus Prime to be a woman in a movie because over the years, women have evolved and have a right to be as equal leaders as men. A suggestion like this might make sense from a political point of view but from a historical and fan-based decision, it would be murder. We all grew up and learned how Captain America is a white little skinny guy from the 40's who became the character we all know. From then, he got shot into our reality of today yet had to adapt to us and how we are (read the Ultimates for the best presentation of this reality). His origin is as clear as day and to change that origin just to be policitally correct and have a big star into a movie, it makes no sense whatsoever. It's not a black or white thing, it's an origin and a hollywood thing where when someone produces a movie, you have to consider everything from the fans to who can cash in the most. Someone like Matt Damon would be the perfect fit for this but, time will tell. It's also very important to keep in mind that it's just a rumor and sometimes, these rumores are created by the production houses themselves so they can get a feel of what people are thinking about specific ideas. This one I hope should not get through.

Comicscape: Halfway There: A Midsummer Report - Sep 03, 2008 - 08:56am
Mmmmm, I think Kingdom Come only has 4 issues drawned by Alex Ross Hanso. Everything else is extras and all that but it was only a 4 issue mini-serie, just like the Marvel mini-series. In any case, I guess it's clear I don't like DC right now and I hope they learn from this event....in other word, don't let Grant Morrison write big events like this anymore.

Comicscape: Halfway There: A Midsummer Report - Sep 03, 2008 - 05:57am
To compare DC's Crisis with Marvel's Invasion, it's like comparing shit with juice (DC being the shit). That Final Crisis is so far off from being fun it's unbelievable. This story is so not engaging and it's pretty much nothing new in itself. I gave it a try for Crisis and I absolutally don't care what could happen anymore because the first 3 issues, the 3526578234676253567861345213454326231345612346352765 tie-ins associated with this are unbarable and the way they planned on things like Martian Manhunter's death was so not well handled in my view I'm totally turn off by this. Obviously, I prefer Marvel's SI way better. Of course the same problem applies with the millions of tie-ins but in this case, I I want to read them all because I think it's so original and fresh to revisit past history of things we read a while back and try to guess who could be a Skrull or not. And people who have read Marvel in the past years are probably thinking the same though that right now, it's cool to see all our heroes being attacked so perfectly and to see them preparing to rise above all that but all together, no more about the Civil War and all that but all together, like old times. That's my feeling where I see something interesting and with passion like Marvel's SI where DC's FC, no feelings whatsoever. I believe I gave it a good shot (3 issues and some tie-ins) and my pocket money will always decide in the end and from what I've heard and read in many, many blogs and discussions in comic shops, DC's FC isn't working for many people.

HBO Scraps Adaptation of PREACHER - Aug 27, 2008 - 05:59am
Well, the religious nuts have done it again. Here's another well written, well drawn, well executed comics that would've been awsome for HBO but because of the religious tone and violence, it's been cancelled and will never see the light of day.Bunch of chicken shits I tell y'a....It just makes me so mad when I see this. Now I know the article never said directly that it's because of that but it's obvious the religious aspect of this series has a huge presence in the story and for everyone who's read it, you all know you can't tone it down or take it out completelly of the story. The violence and cursing and the level of crazy shit in that comic is all related to how humans are with or without their faith and the producers of this obviously felt it's too violent for TV. The pussies of this world have won again......lord jebus is the master once again.

DVD Shopping Bag: DVD Maniac Worthy? Almost - Jul 30, 2008 - 07:30am
Man, that movie was one of the stinkiest festival of crap I've ever seen. It's true the feel and vide of the 80's action movies is very present but there is so much non-sense in that movie it's unbeliable. In any case, I guess if people liked it, all the best to you...I would prefer to be tortured with fire and knives then to see that hell hole again.

SDCC: 4 Minutes of CLONE WARS - Jul 28, 2008 - 01:19pm
Cute JB, cute. Good thing I can laugh at myself.

SDCC: 4 Minutes of CLONE WARS - Jul 28, 2008 - 10:41am
You know.....I'm getting so sick and tired of people bad mouthing George Lucas. Ok, we get it, you don't like what he's done, get on with your life and shut up. It's awlays ''bhouaaaaa, I don't like GL, bla bla bla, he's ruined everything, bla bla bla, I could've done beter, bla bla bla''. You know what people, he doesn't make movies or cards or figurines for you old people, he makes everything for the kids and that's it. Star Wars is for kids, not for grown ups who can't see past what they lived through their childhood and only compare the old with the new. Many, many, many kids below 10 loved everything there is to know about SW right now and this movie is very popular with many people. Many of us had so many hight expectations of the new SW movies that there is NO WAY IN HELL any geeks would be happy with what was done, EVER. SW fans can NEVER be happy, regardless of what is done. At least, there is lots of new things being done with SW and if you don't like it, MOVE THE FUCK ON!!! I grew up with SW, it's in me and forever will be. This movie, it looks cool to me and I will see it. You don't like it, stop talking about this being a money grabber because guess what, so was A new Hope and Empire Strike Back and Return of the Jedi. It's always been a business and will always be a business. The only difference that differs this one with another is that lots and lots of people like it and so they have to constantly come up with new things to keep that business alive. Lucas is no joke, all the people badmouthing him ARE the joke because he's the one who's rich and inventive and smart to break barriers in the field of movie and technology while many of you are still crying about a stupid line in a movie or the story. People can always talk about what they want and what they don't like but when it's always the same thing, always the same childsih ''GL sucks'' and whatnot, I say why bother listen to you...

New Redband Footage for PUNISHER - Jul 25, 2008 - 06:14am
One thing to remember is that this Punisher movie is closer to the Marvel MAX Punisher version, not the general MArvel Punisher which are clearly 2 different version of the character. Some would say they are so different, it's like the Max P. is an all new character all together. This trailer gets me even more interested because for once, it appears that they finally got what the Punisher is all about...he's a killer, pure and simple. There is no need for detailed stories or mystery or elaborated storyline, the Punisher is a killer. I think sometimes people forget that he KILLS people and that's all he does. In the form of comics or movie, there has to be some sort of guidelines for a story but the only thing he does is, he kills bad people and that's it. Of course I know there needs to be some sort of story with a movie and the Jigsaw appears to be that storyline and that's all good for me. The rest, the violence that appears to be showned in there is clearly because they finally understood that the real Punisher is a violent hardcore over-the-top killer who doesn't see the need to shy away from being as violent with the people he kills. It's also wayyyyy too early to see if this movie is only shooting and killing and blood, let's wait until the movie is out before judging it. I just can't wait for this, the real Punisher finally alive.

THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE - Jul 24, 2008 - 07:50am
That is one thing I'm wondering too joeybaloney, why didn't they follow-up with the mythology of the aliens and stuff of the series in this 2nd movie? It feels like they prefered to go general first to ''bring'' the general crowd and built some interest and then if the movie is a hit, they could maybe consider going back to the roots of the myth. One of the biggest part in the X-Files series I didn't like in the end was the whole religion aspect of it. In the begining of the serie, it was all about aliens and us humans being part of their world. After the first movie came out, that's when things started to change dramatically, mostly due to the fact they started filming the serie in the US with a bigger budget so more options could be considered (it's in the commentaries of the 6th season). From there, they started to bring in the religion aspect of aliens and beliefs and for me, that was a big turn off, attched also to the fact that we couldn't seem to get some damm answers. The answer aspect always comes back when people talk about the X-Files but it is a very important part in TV history because I think more and more producers now are paying attention to not just creating myths and mystery but to also bring in some answers from time to time (cue in Lost or BSG for best exemple of how to learn from the X-Files). I guess I still like the X-Files and hope maybe this 2nd movie is better in that sense of bringing mysteries and conclusions, time will tell.

DARK KNIGHT Fastest to $200 Million - Jul 24, 2008 - 05:58am
Dazzler, I would be reaaaaaaaaally curious to know how you can compare Nicholson's Joker VS Heath's Joker? How do you justify one being better then the other? I'm just curious. It's not to say otherwise but, more to discuss how many people see Nicholson's Joler so good and all whereas in my view, I always though he wasn't that good in the first place.

THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE - Jul 24, 2008 - 05:54am
I guess it looks disapointing from this review but, I will still go watch it. Obviously, they can't bring back the magic that was present in the first seasons of the show (for me, after the movie, everything went to hell) but I'm still interested in seeing it. It's one think to say, ouhhhh, ahhhh, TDK is so good and all, it's true but, it's also nice to have such a variaty of movies this year that appear so good and that give lots of choices in seeing different styles of movie. I still believe....

Update: First WATCHMEN Trailer Online - Jul 18, 2008 - 07:51am
This looks great and I wasn't too sure if it would do justice to put this great graphic novel into a movie but, from what I saw in the trailer, it's awsome. I am very anxious to see it now.

Comicscape: Dan Didio’s Countdown to Internet Crisis - Jun 25, 2008 - 07:00am
I feel like these types of events from DC confirms in my mind how much I don't really care for DC. Yes Batman is cool and when he's written in a good way which is once in a very great while (Hush saga, Frank Miller, etc...) it's fun to read but, most of the time it's not my cup of tea at all with the characters of DC. The heroes presented in DC for me are not as realistic and human as Marvel. I know it's only my view and I know some people like DC for the opposite of what I just said but latelly, DC has been a bit all over the place and it's not looking good.I know I loved the identity Crisis event and even gave it a shot at the Infinity Crisis but now, this final crisis and Countdown? stinks to hight heaven if you ask me. Anyway, DC has some potential but for now, it's not being used at all...let's hope in time it will get better. At least the Dark Knight movie is a good step to redeem WB and DC's image.

WOLVERINE #66 - Jun 24, 2008 - 08:36am
I loved this issue.Once again, I see that Millar's writting is at it's best, just like in Civil War (and I hope this will not start another CW sucks bla bla bla discussion). I recentl stopped reading wolverine but once I heard of this new futuristic take on the old-Canuck, I was very interested in this. I am in a sense very curious to know how the heck did Bruce banner have kids but, maybe that won't be really touched because the focus is on Wolverine and not the Hulk.Anyway, love this, can't wait for the other issues.

Director Alexander Talks PUNISHER - Jun 16, 2008 - 10:11am
FINALLY!!! This really looks like the REAL Punisher should be, the MAX version. The general Marvel U Punisher isn't what he should be. garth Ennis has really defined to the original core of what the Punisher should be, was and ever will be (thanks Hitman). The fact the this director is bringing that idea to the screen shows she really gets what the Punisher is really all about. It is sad that many people base their decisions on a 1 minute trailer but then again, we all do this at some point. the difference here is that many of us do wait until passing judgment on a movie and that is something that makes sense in my view. Can't wait to see this.

Comicscape: Five Successes in Mainstream Comics - Jun 04, 2008 - 09:47am
Good article. For me, it's true the gimmick of the 90's of multiple cover was huge and I felt right for it because I was in a state of discovering comics and wasn't fully aware of different style of comics other then Hulk, Dark Horse's Alien VS Predator and X-Men. Today, I'm more divercified then ever and for me, the point that changed that was the writting. I buy a comic more if the story is really interesting and it's well written. If it's well drawned it's usually a bonus. I like how the freedom of the mature side of comics can let some writters express characters not in the usual comform way of comics because they have no restraint that are established (yes they do have limits but, no where near the same level as a regular comic). But, even then, recently, I found myself reducing the amount of comics I collect because I was buyer a few where I was asking myself, why the hell am I buying this and the answer was: ''don't really know''. We should always ask ourselves, do we buy comics because we want to or because we don't want to miss one issue or something.

WWPhilly: Marvel Secret Invasion Panel - Jun 03, 2008 - 01:01pm
I was sooooooooooo hoping the red Hulk story would fit in with the SI storyline but, once again the Hulk gets taken out of something so big and cool, huge bummer. - Great, another resurection of Jean Grey for the 34526345763473665873th time....who cares. - Nick Fury is back, recocgnize y'all, oh yeaaaaaah!!! It's really cool and I do believe it that Bendis has been planning this from the start of New Avengers # 1. this story is fun to read and can't wait to see the whole storyline of everything.

DIARY OF THE DEAD - May 26, 2008 - 05:43am
I though it was ok but, the only part I didn't like the movie was EVERYTIME that dumass ''Jason'' character was speaking, I felt I wanted to shoot him instead of listen to him (he's the guy who was holding the camera all the time). I mean, he bugged the hell out of me everytime he was asking stupid, stupid questions about how do you feel after running over people, how do you feel about what you're seeing, bla bla bla... That's the part that took out the element of real life being filmed in the movie because that character was justs stupid in my view and if I was one of his friend in the movie, I would've punched him myself. In any case, it's still worth to watch it but, I'll wait until it gets into the bins of 2 DVD's for 30$ or something.

New HULK Trailer - May 14, 2008 - 10:33am
I wouldn't say he looks gay in the trailer but, I'd say he looked better in the first movie. All they had to do was make him smaller in height and he would've been the eral Hulk. this one looks too tiny and CGI doesn't look too good. Still, story looks interesting.

IRON MAN - May 04, 2008 - 12:47am
Would someone be nice enough to write what happens at the end of the movie? Of course put Spoilers in front but, it would be nice to know. Just saw the movie and it was great. Will see it again for sure.

HULK Gets Angry in New Online Photos - Apr 30, 2008 - 08:49am
I guess I'm the only one who liked the way the Hulk looked in the alst movie. I would've just made him smaller in height since in that version he was like 17 foot tall or something where normally, he should be like 11 foot or something. This new version looks ugly and not large enough, he looks too skinny for the Hulk. I guess my expectations for this movie are already shattered since Ed Norton is a good actor but I just don't see him as Bruce Banner. Liv tyler is not my choice for Betty Banner and from then on, everything that is hapening, I guess I will wait and see for the movie to come out. CGI looks good but still not right compared to what the Hulk should look like.

Comicscape: Ben Johnson Counts Out Countdown - Apr 30, 2008 - 07:08am
I guess I'm glad I didn't follow-up with the Countdown weekly thing. I did it with 52 and it was original and fun from tiem to time but, I was disapointed to see DC did it a second time and from what I hear, Countdown wasn't nowhere near as good as 52 so, glad I passed on that. Let's hope that Final Crisis will be more interesting.

Creator Doesn't Approve of HARLOCK Film - Apr 17, 2008 - 06:53am
Mee too, when I was a kid in Canada, I watched french cartoon in the mornings and when it played, I loved that captain. It would be cool to see him in live action.

In the Name of the King - Apr 17, 2008 - 06:40am
This review tells me exactly what I needed to know...I will download this over the internet but would not pay to see this. When I saw in the trailer that Burth Reynold was in this, I was so surprised I could not believe it. In any case, reviews like this are great because it's a review, of course they will tell you about the mobie and the plot and everything, IT'S A REVIEW!!! Anyways, sad to see Jason Stateham choose to be into this, I guess he needed some extra money for Christmas or something.

Secret Invasion: Implications and Musings - Apr 09, 2008 - 01:44pm
Merin....I'd say your way off. First of all, if you're to a point you'd have ''bad thoughts'' about someone where you'd think of beating them or something over COMICS?????? I'd say Marvel is Albert Eistein compared to you because it's not smart to say things like that (granted you may never do anything but still, it's the though that counts). Remember just because YOU don't like Marvel Merin, doesn't mean everyone else does and just because you think all that Bendis write is crap doesn't mean that it is. I'd say quite the contrary if you ask me. Bendis is a very good writer right now, one of the best. Of course it's what I think but I'd say everything he writes answers for itself, it keeps on selling and selling and selling. When you say Merin: ''Kurt, how dismissive you are of people who hate all that has been done recently at Marvel is somewhat insulting''...well.....boohoowoohooo. First of all, I'd say that SOME people didn't like what Marvel has done to their characters but it's not everyone. I've been reading comics all my life (so it's been more then 15 years) and I'd say that for me, comics right now have never been written that well. Kurt here gave us one point of view on this new Marvel event, doesn't mean it has to be the exact feeling everyone is thinking about. He's here to explain the facts and then give a little of his opinion and that's it. Everything else is up to us to talk about. It's one thing if people don't like Marvel for what's been happening these past few years but, we still have a choice of just reading other stuff and just let it go people. As an example, I hated, HATED OMD and that whole mess with Spider Man and now I don't read it anymore. So my first choice after that was that I don't go to all the blogs and websites to bitch about it because it's only bitching about something that will not change. The point I'm trying to make is that I'm just tired of people always saying ''Marvel sucks, Bendis sucks, it's gonna be crap'' yet it never adds anything constructive about the opinion. If you feel it's crap, move on to something else Merin and remember many people don't agree with your assumption Marvel sucks. Importantly though, don't take it personally Merin, it's just a general message to everyone who says the same thing you do, it just happens that you said it first that I'm reacting to it. I am looking forward to the other issues of SI because in the end, it brings me back to the old days of reading comics and having fun reading it, talking about it and guessing future mysteries of it. Good stuff Marve, keep it up.

Secret Invasion: Implications and Musings - Apr 09, 2008 - 06:43am
To think that MArvel would ''undo'' everything by just saying everyone in the ship is the ''real'' heroes would be even worse then that OMD mess with SM. I do believe Marvel has planned this since day one because Bendis is good into planning ahead. Many of you might not liked what he's done but, in the end, some do like what he's written and what he's prepered sinde the beginning. Secret Invasion is very very well written and I can't wait to read more about it. In the end people...it's just comics, unfortuantly we might not like what the companies do with our favorite characters but we are not the ones writting them, we can only discuss about them.

Precursors - Apr 01, 2008 - 06:53am
War of the world 2??????? WTF?????????????????????

Common Says Fans Have Say for LEAGUE - Mar 27, 2008 - 08:59am
My biggest problem with this possible movie is that I can't get past the fact that Batman Begins has finally established Batman as a true dark knight character, just like Superman Return has (to some level) re-establish Superman in our minds but now, WB wants to go ahead and re-re-re-write origins of characters. It's impossible to do a JLA movie without re-doing a quick recap of every characters origin, therefore stepping over what has recently been established by Christian Bale and Brandon Routh and even Tom Welling. That's why just because of that, I see this movie going down a diferent road then what was established therefore erasing what the other movies have created all for the purpose of presenting a quick idea that has potential but by doing the JLA movie, it negates everything else that was done. Look at the level of character in Batman Begins and the up coming Dark Knight, look how good and well written these characters have been presented, how the heck can that be transfered into this new JLA 90210 version? It's impossible. The differences might appear small and unimportant but for me, it's the whole basic point of all this where failure is imminant. I will not go see this movie for sure unless they bring back the big boys of Batman Begins and SUperman Returns.

Common Says Fans Have Say for LEAGUE - Mar 27, 2008 - 07:00am
Here we go... Ponyboy, Read what I said regarding John Steward and the MOVIE they are making about the JLA. Not the comic, not his origin or how he's dealt in comics. It's regarding the movie of the JLA and honestly, the character that defined the GL is Hal Jordan, no one else. It just happes that HJ is white but who cares about that. If he was originally black, then I would say the same thing that he should be the one and only character present in the movie and not the 2nd or 3rd of 4th GL version. Hal Jordan came first, he should be the one in there (yes I know that guy from the JSA was first but, we are talking GL here). when your having a bunch of heroes together and they are all whites, there's always going to be someone out there whinning about how come there is no black super heroes included. That's why I'm saying the GL character in this movie is probably there to be ''politically correct'' because even though they could choose the most popular charachter of GL being HJ, they went with the black character instead. Now, I'm sure some people will find this as if I'm a racist but guess what true belivers, I'm not white, I'm black. How I see thigns is my own way and sometimes I find it so frustrating to see that some characters could be established in specific ways but in this movie in particular, it's not the origin or the essence of the character that I find frustrating, it's the circomstance of a choice of a character that isn't the right character that bugs me (NOT because he's black, but because he's not the most popular GL). Now start the bashing of me.

Common Says Fans Have Say for LEAGUE - Mar 27, 2008 - 05:59am
I would be dispointed if they would do this movie in the first place without the big names already established as the characters but, obviously DC and WB are thinking $$$ instead of logic, fan approval and being smart about this. The ONLY reason the character of JOhn Stewart would be in the movie is to have a black actor in the list of heroes instead of having the righ GL in the movie. It's not racist, it's nothing against black people, it's pure ''politically correct'' tactics by the powers that be in the movie industry to have a black actor in the movie. I say Nay for this because the reason to do this movie is just $$$, it doesn't follow anything else that was established by Batman Begins or Superman Returns. Marvel has understood now that with Hulk and Iron Man, the movies might cross each other in the movies so in the long run, an Avengers movie could be a spossibility. Why can't DC follow into this logic? I guess it's true we could wait until we see a trailer or something but, when you have so much negative feedback on a project, sometimes people should open their eyes and ears and notice things aren't working well for this project.

No More FANTASTIC FOUR?? - Mar 26, 2008 - 06:06am
I never though I'd say this but, THERE IS A GOD!! No more FF is the one and only proof there is a god. Now, I don't want this thread to become a FF bashing but, this news really prooves that these movies were not well done, not well acted and as much as Jessica Alba is pretty, she wasn't the best choice for the movie in my view. The 2nd movie was so bad, it made the american version of Godzilla a masterpiece compare to that. It is surprising though with all the comic movies coming out these past few years, you would think that the standards would be very hight and the commitment on making a good story would be excellent but, the FF movies goes into the same pile as Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider and the Hulk. Good ridence.

JUSTICE LEAGUE Losing Against Australia - Mar 19, 2008 - 06:18am
Wiseguy, Maybe the American film industry will prefer to film movies in other country just for the basist of photography preferences. There is some beautiful landmarks in the US but, there are also lots and lots more of beautiful sites all over the world that are only available in specifc countries and not in the US and that sometime is why it's chosen to film outside the US. Canada does have a money preference where for the US, for a while it was cheaper to film there so logically it made sense to film there. There is no way movies like Lord of the Ring could've been film in the US because it doesn't have what the movie requires. There is many reasons why a movie would not be filmed in the US, sometimes it's just business sense, not a patriotic thing.

JUSTICE LEAGUE Losing Against Australia - Mar 19, 2008 - 06:10am
Now...Maybe it's just me but, I don't see this as ''American bashing'' but just a goverment decision not to accept certain aspect of the filming industry because of specific style of speach to be represented in their country which would not be representative of their own origins. I'm sure the Australian goverment couldn't care less which movie is film in their country but rather more importantly, HOW or WHAT or WHERE is it film in Australia and if those answers are not up to their goverment's expectation, it's normal that any movie would not be accepted to film. That's how I see it... But I am happy to see this movie getting in trouble more and more.

Berg Confirmed for DUNE - Mar 18, 2008 - 06:43am
I must admit first time I saw the movie Dune, I though it was boring and way too long for me. I was a young kid who at the time loved Star Wars and loved science-fiction so logically, I gave that movie a chance and I never really got into Dune that much. I kind of feel that this movie is done for fans of Dune but, for the people who didn't like the first one, they are probably will not be interested in another one so I kind of see this movie as failing to get in new people and be interested in it. It's all about opinions but, so many movies now are being re-done for ''future generations'', not too sure if it's the right way to go.

Two Actors Out of SMALLVILLE S8 - Mar 05, 2008 - 01:35pm
Might be for the best. Seeing these characters in a more distant recuring role will help bringing the end of the series into what we know more. You can bet Lex Luthor will play a big role in the finally of this series.

Don't Believe the Hype - Mar 05, 2008 - 12:49pm
The ideal image of the perfect comic being Watchmen and The Dark Night Return is something that takes time and many readings in order to understand it's meaning. The first time I read TDNR or Watchmen, it took me a while tor eally appreciate how it was written and the way it affected comics after that. For new readers, the knowledge and tone of what the comic industry is today is assumed and practice all the time now. For old timers like me, we know that one of the specific new age of comic started after Watchmen and TDNR because it brough a new way to look at comics in a more ''mature'' way and in a writting style that wasn't popular before. Many new writers today base their style and tone on their appreciation of W and TDNR. Over time, on my part I love cross-overs if they bring something that will affect the characters for a long run (I think mostly everyone likes that). I might buy the main event comics byt the tie-ins does kill me (although for CW, there so much fun at saying who would be on which side, if the writting is good, people will buy it).

Don't Believe the Hype - Mar 05, 2008 - 10:25am
Merin, I'd be curious to understand why you don't like Bendis. In my mind, Bendis is one of the great writers Marvel has right now. He's extremelly good at bringing characters to life and new very different style and views of those characters. His run on Daredevil rivals frank Miller's run in my view. His writting might be slow and precise but, the purpose itself of what is being said by characters always has a meaning that defines even more the heroes and villains with new struggles. In my view, Wedhon's run on Astonishing X-Men isn't all that good in my view. I think it's a lot of hype for nothing (and way, wayyyy to long to wait for a comic that isn't that much fun to read) and compared to Bendins, I will take 1 Bendis over Whedon a million tiems over. But that's just me. In the end, I have a much more larger preference over Marvel's big event then DC because the work that's been done for Secret Invasion is more interesting to me then the Final Crisis. I haven't followed up on Countdown to Crisis but, I don't have that much interest in it also. And that's where a good writer can make a difference in my view because with Bendis writting Secret invasion, I'm all over it. Now starts the bashing of me....

Don't Believe the Hype - Mar 05, 2008 - 06:50am
I'd say that the up coming summer events in the world of comics looks a bit interesting (secret invasion more then the crisis # 23512345612356134). I've always been a Marvel fan more then a DC fan but, did really enjoyed Identity Crisis and the one right after that. The one part where I see a big difference between Marvel and DC is that Marvel does sometimes make changes that last for a while. Look at CW and how it still affects the Marlvel world compared to DC after the infinite crisis saga. Marvel will make changes soemtimes that are ment to stay a little bit longer because I feel Marvel has a little bit more freedom in their characters and are more open minded then DC. I don't say this because I'm biased about Marvel but, I say this because when I read DC VS Marvel, I always feel that when DC starts to be a little more edgy then usual (which is cool), they always come back to the original status much more faster so nothing changes from the character for too long. I know DC is more happy familly oriented then Marvel but, I guess I would have more interest in DC if the larger events they do would have longer repercussion then 1 month then everything is back to normal. I'm sure some people may disgree with me, feel free to voice your opinion.

Cost Incentives Delaying JUSTICE LEAGUE? - Feb 25, 2008 - 01:33pm
The longer this movie is delayed, the better it is. The idea of the movie would be awsome but, they are turning it into something I'm not that much interested in and from the looks of things, a lot of ''comic book fans'' all over the world agree with me. Not having Christian Bale and Brandon Rooth is not helping people ahving interest in the movie. Better they wait...

The Oscars Are Happening: Do You Care? - Feb 25, 2008 - 12:59pm
The problem with the Oscar on my part is that it is so long and there is many categories that I couldn't give a flying crap about. I actually watched the Oscar last night becuase it looked funny and I like John Stewart. But, way too long and those categories, many are just not interesting to me. Real movie buffs like us couldn't care less about best short movie or best lights over on a bridge somewhere. To a certain extent, the MTV movie award chose categories that were fun to look at (best villain, best fight, etc...). Yes the oscar is a way to show admiration and respect to people who truly deserve it but...sometimes that's the problem also. It's all subjective....I mean.... Thin Red Line over Saving Private Ryan??? When I watched TRL, i was so bored getting tortured by a terrorist seemed more exciting that that movie. But it's my view...and for Shakespear in love to win over SPR, that was a shame...but that's where opinions vary about what is considered a best movie, best actor, etc... Is there guidelines to describe what is a best movie? what is a minimum criteria to say what could be accepted? I mean, Brokeback Mountain was a wonderful movie but, it had no chance whatsoever to win best movie, the Oscars ARE in America so, no contest. The problem being that nominations are complicated, opinions are so personal and the academy, sometimes anybody can be accepted and it's just a big mess. Most of the time, the people who should be nominated are recognize but, like I said earlier, soemtimes just because WE thing a movie should get nominated, it doesn't mean it will (or it should).

Update: AMPTP & WGA Reach Tentative Agreement! - Feb 09, 2008 - 09:53am
About time these writers got back to work....damm strike...

Alas, Poor Yorick - Feb 06, 2008 - 06:48am
I read Y the last man since the beginning and I can say this was an excellent book and the ending itself is very fitting and moving. It's also very sad to see what happens through his last years and learn the fate of his companions. This comic is in the same level of Preacher where once you read the whole series, you understand that the last chapter in the serie is the only fitting fate of the characters and there wouldn't be any other choice but to end the comic the way it was ended. I'm very curious how they will put this comic in a movie because this story has way too many subjects that are ''sensative'' in America (gays/lesbians, human cloning, women in power, etc...). I'm afraid that they will tone down too many of the soul of the story in order to put this in an ''American'' production.

RANT: Have You Ever Had a Friend... - Jan 21, 2008 - 04:55pm
Having a great show always helps to apss it on to someone else (friend, familly, collegues). I remember on season 2 of Lost, I started talking about the show and what happend so far and what is going on, 3 weeks later I was on the 6th person at work that I was lending my season 1 of lost and then when season 2 came out on DVDd, I was lending it again to other people who are now Lost freaks like me. I believe not every show has the same impact then the ones like Lost or Heroes. I've watch Heroes once or twice and never picked up on it even though my friend has season 1...maybe one day.

RANT: Have You Ever Had a Friend... - Jan 21, 2008 - 11:13am
I guess it's just me but, I will watch a show if I want to or not depending of MY interest. I have some friends who told me about certain show and everytime, I decided if I wanted to watch it or not. Stargate Antlantis is really good apparently but, the original didn't appeal to me so, I figured the other one wouldn't either. On the other hand, I never had friends talk during shows or stuff because I'd just tell them to shut the hell up if they did. I use to watch DS9 with a friend and we would always talk between the commercials and this should be an unwritten law of world ethics, just like talking during movies (YOU JUST SHUT THE HELL UP AND THAT'S IT). Now the subject of Homosuality and stuff, why is even a subject...who cares if someone is gay or strait in a show, it doesn't matter...to me anyway (I know in the US it's not the same). The one issue also that sometimes is hard is, even if all my friends were pushing me to look into a series, at this point I'm so far behind a series that I wouldn't see myself renting or downloading a whole series just to be updated so, if I'm too far off in a series, regardless of what my friends say I will skip it.

CLOVERFIELD - Jan 19, 2008 - 08:50pm
I loved this movie a lot. I went to see if and I didn't have high expectations but just an idea of things being filmed in hand camera style. In any case, I trully felt I was part of the events and yes the camera style is something to get use to it but, I guess I don't get nausious with things like this so for me it's no problem at all. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw that little cool bit at the end before the credits (see previous posting), everyone who was with me didn't see it. In any case, great review, great movie, cool movie is the better word I think. I wouldn't like a sequel for this movie. I find it a bit weird when people say they feel cheated or expected more (more answers, more images of the creature, etc...). I mean, that's the movie, thats the style, that's the goal of the movie to show something but not fully. I guess for me I just loved this movie, already planning on seeing it again.

Amazing Spider-Man #546 - Jan 15, 2008 - 12:49pm
Daforce, I would maybe argue the idea about the fanboy whininng thing. It is true some fans are passionate about what they read and what they want as far as comics go...that's what the internet is all about (even though most of the time I do think there is some ''cry babies'' among the fans). The difference in this case is, we know for a fact that the whole idea of OMD was to break out the mariage between SM and MJ. It's not as if it's a mini serie within a comic that will happen for a few issues and then move on to something new. The fact that we know the big heads ar Marvel wanted this to happen to free up the possibility (for not just one or 2 arc but for many years to come) to have the freedom of having SM single and play with this. Now, after all the negative press and bad comments with this event, let's face it, it's one thing if a few people aren't happy with something it's normal and when your're up to a point when the most loyal of fans or the everyday collector isn't happy the way it was done or isn't happy about why it was done , it's a huge deal if that many people aren't satisfied because it affects the sales, the opinion and the popularity of a character and with this event, it's mostly negative. More importantly, we know where is it going because as mentionned before, their goal is to be a permanent thing, not a quick and out event unless they had planned it all along to re-erase everything as part of a big fat joke/event thingy. I am one of those everyday collector where I didn't really loved SM but I liked the recent stories by JMS and the whole civil war unmasking and him being with MJ and all. Now, I would apparently have to continue reading about someone who I couldn't really relate to (30 something man living with his auntie) and erasing everything that I liked about the character? That's my issue 9and lots of people I think) is the idea that everything has been erased for one general idea of having a single SM regardless of everything that happend before. the future of SM could be redone again to fix certain things or it could be ignored compeltelly (as it is done so far) and my opinion is that I'm just not interested anymore in a character like this. Many people feel that way because we could relate to certain things and now they an't anymore. It's not whynning, it's more a question of why change something that people felt there was no need to fix? Yes it's comics but some things don't need to change...

Amazing Spider-Man #546 - Jan 15, 2008 - 07:45am
Mini spoilers....I guess.... It was confirmed in last month's Wizard magasine that Tony Stark and Cap were 100% human and not skrulls. This would be excellent because to have Tony Stark end up a Skrull would take out everything that was cool about the civil war (and I'm an anti-reg). this would be the easiest way to erase all the thigns Tony did if he was a skrull and I'm really happy it's the first thing they confirmed that they were not. I'm looking forward to the Secret Invasion event.

Amazing Spider-Man #546 - Jan 15, 2008 - 06:40am
My biggest problem with this is, everything I came to love and found really interesting about SM's character in the past 3-4 years has been erased as if nothing happened. All the cool stuff about the civil war unmasking, the fact that Aunt May was finally about to die and him being an avenger but everyone in the world would know his identity, all the events that happend latelly written by JMS were cool and interesting....now it's all erased. It's for that and that reason only that I now find myself with no interest with the character anymore. I don't care what they do with SM now, I've ask they take it out for me and the feeling of having some cool feelings about a comic and have that attachment to some events and now POUFF!!, it's all erased and everything that's happened latelly is all gone, how the hell can someone not feel cheated?? I guess now I understand a little bit more what JQ wanted to do but, even himself can admit it might've not being the best way to do it and the disastrous fallout from this event is that many many people who cared for this cool character are now leaving by the thousand. I mean...a 20 something guy living with his old aunt....THAT'S COOL......yyyeeeeeeeeaaaaaa....not too cool I think....not too cool at all.

TORN - Jan 15, 2008 - 06:22am
I don't want to start something here but, I know for a fact that these types of circomstances aren't a worldy issue, it's more of an US issue. here in Canada, I've raerlly had someone who speaks, talk on the phone or gets up and yell or something. I've been to a theatre once in the US.....never again. And I guess I udnerstand why so many people wouldn't want to see those movies because the amount of disrespect people have in that theatre was unbelievable. I know it's not just in the US but...my experience (and I can only say MY experience) has showned me that I'm happy to be here and enjoy the full experience of seeing a movie in a theatre. I guess gauleyboy has a good point. In the event that someone is talking or is destroying your experience of the theatre, just ask the person politelly and 99% of the time they will change their ways and that's it. Robert, knowing how things in Canada are different and sometimes not for the best, would it be possible to suggest to add if the movies you mention in your column are released internationally or just in the US? Sometimes some of the movies you mentionned are out in the US but are not available in Canada.... thanks for looking into it.

Fly Oceanic and Get LOST - Jan 07, 2008 - 07:33am
The site find815 is cool. First, it brings you to a video of someone who appears to be a new cast person trying to find his girlfriend lost on the flight 815. He then receives an email saying it's from someone who knew his lost gf and then there is a picture attached of her yet there is a few hard to find differences from the picture he has of his girlfriend and the one that was sent to him. Once you find enough differences by zooming in the face of the new picture (mostly they are in the face), you get to a new video where once the guy has found enough differences he tries to email back the person who wrote to him but he can't and he gets an email where it's all scrambled but WE have the opportunity to brake a code within the email.... It's been a few minutes I'm trying to do it...it'shard. Ok...found it...it's at the end of the email...there is a link of a name of a group withing the email...click on it and it brings you to a new video.

2007: The Year in Review, Part Two - Jan 04, 2008 - 06:21am
I can admit the same thing about the SM hellish problem it's now living. I'm done with the title...not really because of principle or things like that but mostlybecause of the fact that I completelly lost interest with what they did. I loved the idea that SM had his identity revealed and that he was onthe run and stuff. It brough a new edge to how hw was living his powers and hoe he was living in this new world...and then they take it all away just like that. There's been some link from different posting on the ''word' battle between JQ and JMS and it appears it's clear it's on JQ's head on this one, not JMS. http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=141756 All this because they didn't want spiderman to be married....all this just for that??? Come on....I'd really be interested in knowing the droppdown of people leaving the SM book...I know I'm part of that group now.

New International Posters for DARK KNIGHT - Dec 14, 2007 - 02:54pm
That was excellent, that trailer was really cool to see. Can't wait to see it...this will be the summer movie I think.

WGA Files Charges Against AMPTP with NLRB - Dec 14, 2007 - 02:36pm
The overall idea and creation of a union is good (and was more important in the past for obvious reasons). Today though, in many countries, unions themselves have taken so much power that more and more demends are being requested that managments themselves can't take more then what's being offered. Yes to some degrees, some managers and corporate groups get most of the money to themselves and don't share but not all the time. I would really like to get someone who's in the WGA right now and that could really tell us both sides of the request without being biased about anything. I'm just a believer into discussions and communication instead ot strikes...there is always a better solution then strike.

WGA Files Charges Against AMPTP with NLRB - Dec 14, 2007 - 08:26am
BOTH sides are acting like a bunch of crybabies. This issue could be resolved in so many ways but now, the strike is not and never a solution but it's just escelating to ridiculous levels now. Granted some parties have an ''ethical'' right to ask for what they are due but, this is not the way and from the looks of it, either side is willing to give a little therefore they are both responsible for what is hapenning now. Unions are the evil powers of society (yes, there it is, i've said it, start calling me names or whatever). the reasons I'm saying this is because having participated in some ''negotiations'' with organizations and unions, it's sooooo hard to get both parties to agree, these things always escelate and from the looks of this one, it's going to get worse before it gets better. I just don't ike union but yes I know it does have a certain purpose for some issues but from my experience, it does more bad then good.

ULTIMATES 3 - Dec 11, 2007 - 03:04pm
Well, I'd say I don't fully agree with you on the art thing. I guess I'm saying that, if you took someone that had the same type of art as Bryan Hitch, it would become the same type of book it was before and from the way they are treating the Ultimates right now, it's obvious they want to bring something new into the book. Joe Medeueria is good, his art is nice to watch (forget the realism of a human body with him that's true) but, I guss I'm more glad to just see different then what we have and I'm already not expecting nothing as good as MM and BH but just something completelly different. I do hope we will get more details and information later, this being the only issue out for now is hard to judge at this point.

ULTIMATES 3 - Dec 11, 2007 - 12:27pm
I guess there is one aspect that needs to be reminded....Jeph Loeb obviously doesn't want to do the same thing that Mark Millar did and Mark Millar was so happy when he knew that Jeph wasn't copying what they did, it seemed a good idea at the time (from Wizard Magasine). The idea that JL wants to go into a new dierction makes sense, I'm sure we don't want a copy paste of what was done before because let's be honest, some of ''us'' would be the first one to call JL a phony for copying MM's work. This approach of the new Ultimates does bring a new look into it and unfortunatly, the one thing that appears to be missing is the link itself with what was offered before. The dialogue is very short and the action is taking over the development of the story and that is the weakness of the series so far. I do hope this gets better but...seems a bit of a letdown with this new version but time will tell, maybe things will get better.

BOURNE ULTIMATUM - Dec 10, 2007 - 09:20am
I am one of the few who didn't completelly liked this movie. In my view, the movie BU was a copy paste of the 2nd one...same car chase, same fights...almost same mystery. I didn't see anything new in this one. It was good to watch but also, very repetitive. I usally like to get all ''trilogys'' but on this one...it's a pass and maybe will buy it later when it's in a cheap bin.

First Five Minutes of THE GOLDEN COMPASS - Dec 04, 2007 - 09:10am
Every GODdamm time a movie or a book talks about religion, how come people freak out or are oppose to it or are scared of it? Yes, religious people are scared of statements, ideas, or words spoken in books or movies against their belief.....why? why is that? Just because someone says, god doesn't exist, churches are bad, bla bla bla (I know it's not what is being said in TGC), doesn't mean that it's true or that it's a danger to your belief. The problem here is that religious people feel so ''offended'' about thier belief it's as if nothing else exist and everyone else's belief don't exist except the true word of god (or which ever religion you believe). I'm talking to an extreme here but you get my message. It's a movie people...like TreverT says, the write of TGC wrote this book to present different ideas one being that religion sometimes inforces people to act, push or impose things on people. Is it true? Maybe yes, maybe no. If a religious person cannot sometime open their eyes to the world and understand that the freedom of speech exist and that some people don't believe in god or maybe they do but with a more open minded aspect of life, then I'd say that's what's stopping this world to evolve. I'm sorry but these types of things just kills me. CNN has a ''good'' article on this movie but the headline of the artice says ''Is Golden Compass selling atheism to kids''...WTF is this horseshit?? It's just sad that we forget that IT'S A MOVIE PEOPLE, it's not a disctator pushing ideas on the world to undo what you believe!!! Man.....it just kills me....And I hope people understand that it's not against the religious people I'm mad here, it's again the people who cannot keep an open mind about these things (even if your religious or not).

I Hate Uwe Boll - Dec 03, 2007 - 01:57pm
I guess if he's really good with cost, it's true producers always prefer someone who brings in the money rather then someone who makes a good movie. ah well...

Cage Wants 'Global' Feel for NATIONAL TREASURE 3 - Dec 03, 2007 - 11:04am
the first NT was the ONLY movie in my entire life that I had to stop because it was so boring. I've seen so many movies yet this one, could not finish it for the life of me...the fact that they do a second one probably means it will be better so I might try again once it's on DVD. Haven't see the GR movie yet but from what I hear, it's not good. If they do a second one, maybe they will do better then the first one. It seems now that many #2 movies now are considered when the first one wasn't that good, it's interesting.

Halloween Producers Want to HURT - Dec 03, 2007 - 10:59am
10$ says the person didn't commit suicide and it's the killer.... Why still so many horror movies nowadays, I don't get it.

I Hate Uwe Boll - Dec 03, 2007 - 08:53am
I gotta admit...I've never seen any of Uwe Boll's movie. First of all, they didn't seem that interesting so even if another director would've done it, I don't think I would've seen them. Now, I know most people don't like him and i guess, when a very very hight pourcentage of people don't like someone's work, it'susually a sign. Maybe I should look into it and see if the commetns are true. I'm curious to know why the guy keeps getting more work if his rep is that bad. shouldn't the studio consider this if you hire a director with such a low rep?? I've seen the trailer of ''in the name of the king'' and I guess it reminds me of the old 80's movie slasher. It looks cheap, it looks bad but sometimes can be fun. The actors in it seems ok (love Jason Statham) but Burt Reynold as a king??? Anyways...

Cusack Tracks Killer in THE FACTORY - Nov 30, 2007 - 04:54pm
Maybe rgtchtiger he's only talking about himself where he felt he was ''good'' in the role he did onscreen for those 10 movies. Sometimes lots of actors feel they weren't at their best in a movie yet everyone else think they were really good. I do like him but sometimes feels he keeps doing the same type of romantic comedies one after another.

WGA Talks Pause, Statements Released - Nov 30, 2007 - 04:51pm
The problem with striking is the fact that both parties believe they are right. I've been part of an union and was also part of the representative for the union. Dealing with the ''big bosses'' for more $$, health benefits, holidays etc..., these things always take time and the more people from both side refuses to cooperate, the longer we will not have our shows. I'm not on anybody's side since I don't believe in strike. The idea that the writers do get shafted because they don't get their full share of revenues is understandable but from the executives and all, some of these arangmentswere made too long ago so they have nothing to rely on so logically the evolutions of technology wasn't considered when the first agrements were done. I'd would just hope that the writters stop striking and at least do a little bit of writting as long as negotiations are underway.

THE WALKING DEAD #44 - Nov 30, 2007 - 04:40pm
I gotta admit I think this is also a very good comic and one of the best out there right now. I do follow it when it comes out and it's always fun to see when it actually shipped. I do admit I'm not a big fan of the art and the inking is sometimes too much. I see it as drawings that are very simple and detailed but overall not that nice to look at. The black and white is nice and original but the actual details aren't that good in my view but hey, that's just me. This is definitally in the top 3 of best comics to read (if only I could get some LOEG: Black Dossier in Canada).

SAW IV Hits DVD January 22 - Nov 26, 2007 - 03:00pm
Dazzler, good point. The experience of a movie theatre is always something to look for but when you have some dummass people talking while the movie is playing, it kills the mood completelly. I must admit I once saw a movie in the US and I can say the culture in some states is very different then in Canada. I've never been to a movie where people talked as much as that film I saw in the US. I mean, a phone call during a movie?? what the hell?? How can people be so stupid and so indiferent of people's respect is astonishing (I'm talking in general of the movie talker person, not specifically the US people here). I was going out with this girl for a few months and when she started talking during the movie I was very disapointed she was a movie talker. I guess in Canada most movies I've seen, I've never had someone speaking over the phone (happened a few times where people forgot but they got up automatically and went out of the theatre to speak). I just hope that people would have more respect when they go to a movie. On the other side, I do understand that for some people, a movie is just a movie as oppose to when I go to a movie, I go for the experience, the sound, the ''coolness'' of seeing a good movie. That girl I was seeing made me understand that for soem people, the theatre is just something to do but they don't take it that seriously which might invite people to feel free to do what they would do as if they were at home. In any case, I usually go to the theatre for specific movies, anything else can wait to be played on my surround sound home theatre tv, it's worth the wait most of the time.

Completist? - Nov 20, 2007 - 01:41pm
I guess being a completist isn't being 100% a sucker because in the end, I would assume we do buy movies because we like them to a certain level. I would never buy a movie that I didn't like that was sold seperatelly but was part of a trilogy. If it comes in a box set, then it's ok. Best exemple, the Mummy movies, the box set included the Scorpion King (we al know it wasn't the best). there is no way I would've bought Scorpions King but I only bough the Mummy box set because it was cheap and had an etra movie in it. Compared to the Harry Potter series, I'd rather have them bough as they come out and I don't care to have a box set for them. I wouldn't see myself buying part 1,3, 5 and 7 even if some of them were weaker. I'd like to have the whole series because it's part of the serie itself and there good movies, some are just betters then others.

Ellis Helms FINAL DESTINATION 4 - Nov 20, 2007 - 08:51am
Ah man, I didn't know Ali's character died in the 2nd movie....CRAP!!!!

Completist? - Nov 20, 2007 - 08:48am
Well, call me sucker because I'm a completist. I don't see myself buying one movie, not buy the 2nd one and then buy the 3rd one (or 4th) just because the one in the middle was weaker. In my view, Spider-Man 3 was the weakest of all the movies but, that didn't stop me from getting it. Yes it was crap but at least, it's something that continues the other movies. I guess it's just a personal thing. And I will buy the 4th Die Hard because it was really good.

Upcoming CLONE WARS May Hit Theaters - Nov 16, 2007 - 09:11am
It looks awsome as far as 3-D cartoon's go. I can't wait to see this regardless if it's on TV or in theatre. It's funny because I do believe these episodes are usually better then the film because the writting and directing is different then the movies. GL is good but, even I have to admit Ep. 1-3 wasn't that excellent and those cartoons between ep. 2-3 were really fun to watch. I'll still watch it anyway...

Opening the Black Dossier: The Alan Moore Interview, Part Two - Nov 14, 2007 - 11:59am
Hey Kurt, Would it be too late to ask Mr. Moore why his LOEG: BD isn't available in Canada as I just found out apparently it will not be available at all for CND's? this isn't the first time a comic, product or access to something in the entertainment world isn't available in Canada and i was curious to know why specifically? thanks. p.s. My comic book store manager just told me apparently it won't be shipped here and if some people want to, it's extremelly expensive but as far as he knew, it wasn't considered worth it to ship it in Canada.

SPOCK'S Mother Will Be Human - Nov 10, 2007 - 09:15pm
I guess I still think WR is a good actress and she will do good by being Spock's mother. I am intrigue by this movie a lot. I'm a fan of ST but, I guess I'm not hardcore fan I'm not too much nitpicking every casting they are diong (although it sounds interesting so far). Time will tell...

New Trailer For VALKYRIE - Nov 09, 2007 - 03:40pm
Well, I'd say it's not that a movie will be bad when you know the ending. It's more that the experience will be different then a movie that you obviously don't know the end. Watching titanic was great and it's the best exemple of having a good movie with knowing the end in advance. Of course, the movie eas really good and made the end even more fun to watch even though I knew what would happen. Of course when you watch a movie that is brand new and we don't know the ending, it's a different level of experience altogether and I usually prefer not knowing an ending when I watch a new movie....but that's just me.

New Trailer For VALKYRIE - Nov 09, 2007 - 09:22am
This looks awsome and Tom Cruise will carry that movie all the way to the top. Knowing how it ends in advance does unfortunatly bring something of a bad taste because watching a movie knowing how it ends isn't as fun as not knowing the end. Can't wait to see it anyway.

Marvel's Joe Quesada Talks AVENGERS - Nov 07, 2007 - 09:35am
Well... As a CND....what could I say that hasn't been said... I can relate to the fact that I've never been a big fan of CA. Obviously, it has nothing to do with the fact that it's an ''American'' character. The way I see it from my experience of reading about him in the comic I guess is, I just don't really get into the ''preaching'' of someone so good and strong to be part of our world where he's so much out of his time that it's hard to follow his ideas. The idea that CA would bring ideas into the world (of comic) where logically, almost no one would believe is hard to admire in a character so I can't really relate to him. The reason why I'm saying that almost no one would believe him is, think about it...how many times would we laugh at someone from the old age trying to tell us how to be this or that or do this or do that...maybe later when we are older we will know and believe someone like CA was right to try and make us better but, in comics? that's why I can't really relate to the character of CA not because he's wrong but mostly, because he's right but in the world we live in, he would be outcast and no one would believe him yet in the comic people do believe him. I think I'm with almost everyone here that I do prefer the Ultimate CA because his mentality is more adapt to this world and the Ultimate Universe is more realistic to ours so it makes more sense for me to relate to this version of CA then the 616 CA. Now Celt...obviously you don't represent all the americans but to say something like what you wrote, it's clear your obviously not informed of Canada or France or many other countries and what they've done in this world. To call a whole nation cowards simply confirms the though that so many countries have of the USA...you just think you're better then the other countries Celt and the fact that you BELIEVE it makes it even more sad. No country is better then any other and most country don't sell the idea that they are better then eveyone else. We are all proud of where we come from but, it is a good thing not everyone thinks like you Celt because there would be no need for hell, we would be living in it.

LOST Cut in Half & Related WGA News - Nov 06, 2007 - 10:55am
a strike is never the answer in my view. The idea that the writers are getting shaft is understandable. But, like many things in life, I always find it hard to believe that a strike is the answer. Now in the end, it's funny how we can all realize how TV affects us and is a big part of our lives (maybe too much but that's my choice) and to see how this strike will affect all my favorite shows is a downer for sure. I don't supoprt any union that always resume to strike but, that's just me. The fact that Lost appears to be touched by this and now will only get 8 episodes, I might not even care anymore by the time these 8 shows are on...it's just too much for something i can just wait for the DVD. Anyway, I hope it gets resolves soon but, it appears it won't.

DC Goes to the Movies (or Doesn’t) - Oct 31, 2007 - 03:32pm
That's it...I have to make a confession....I've never seen Superman Returns....it's funny because after everything I heard, read or fro the clips I've seen, I'm still not sure if it's worth seeing it just to see if people exaterated or if most people were right. I do hope DC makes a better effort with their movies because once again, Marvel is kicking DC butts not only in comics but also in movies (yes not all Marvel comics are great). Not a big fan of Superman or WW anyway so, maybe the GL or Flash movie will be interesting to see.

Burrell is Doc Samson in INCREDIBLE HULK - Oct 23, 2007 - 03:00pm
In the end, words are just that, words. Sometimes the choice isn't ours to decide if they will hurt or not. Freedom of expression does give the right to express ourselves (well....maybe not in the US with W. B. over there) but, how we do it always define who we are. I just hope people consider the possibility of using different terms on how they talk (or write their opinions on different websites) with other people. Peace y'all. Hulk will rule the earth!!

Burrell is Doc Samson in INCREDIBLE HULK - Oct 23, 2007 - 12:08pm
In my view, my point was to try and make people realise sometimes we say things we don't think might affect someone in a manner which we sometimes don't realize. In any case, to each is own, I know I won't change the world but, sometimes there are things you just feel you have to give your opinion on something. Maybe I came out too politically correct but, in the end I just hope this world would act more like some of our favorite heroes and less like our ''friend'' G.W.B. (and I'm not saying anyone acted like w.b. here, on the contrary). good analogy Gaule.

Burrell is Doc Samson in INCREDIBLE HULK - Oct 23, 2007 - 09:53am
''Don't do that''?? I don't think so. You say Mellow ''The slang expression about something being gay ("Oh man...'Superman Returns' was gay!") is just that; a slang expression. It's used by millions of people on a daily basis and doesn't mean that the user has a negative attitude toward folks of a different sexual orientation''. that is making NO sense at all. Just because people use this ''slang'' doesn't mean it's OK to use it. I'm using the term childish because that's when people (or kids) uses terms they probably don't fully understand the consequences of using a term like this. People might use the term ''gay'' without thinking there is no harm done (which I believe most people use it without wanting to harm anyone) but, some people DO use this term as a negative thing and to have other people use the same words for ''another meaning'', in the end no one wins by calling people names (which I know I use the term childish to prove my point which I won't anymore). the real homophobes use slang like this to insult people, why would other people use the same words for something else? It might appear insignificant to you Mellow but, for gay people, I can tell you it's not appreciated or appropriate in ANY circomstance, that's why I'm bringing this up. Hulk rules!!!

Thomas Jane Talks CRIMINAL MACABRE - Oct 23, 2007 - 09:21am
I guess I feel different then most of you since I did like him as the Punisher. The main issue with the movie was the script itself. They didn't go enough in the original story of his origins so that made him weaker then he was suppose to. that whole thing about keeping the stupid guy alive to get information from John Travolta's character, that was stupid, the tone wasn't right but the actor was good. When a movie by Jodie Foster shows more of a darker tone when she goes off and kills people for justice, that's not a good sign when this movie had more tone and coolness then the Punisher (nothing against woman, on the contrary, that's even cooler if a good actress can pull off what the Punisher should be). In any case, I hope the next one will be without mercy.

Burrell is Doc Samson in INCREDIBLE HULK - Oct 23, 2007 - 09:16am
''The whole hair thing was gay.... not that there is anything wrong with that'' Madmanic999...,there is something wrong being gay according to your comments since you are using it as something negative towards someone...this is childish comments made by a childish person. Back to the subject, I guess this is interesting news to have Doc Samson in the movie. This guy is obviously hired to play the before gamma powered stage of Doc Samson but he's cool and hopefully they will try to show the psychiatrist side of Doc more then the green hair hero. Should be interesting.

Fire Breaks Out on RIGHTEOUS KILL - Oct 05, 2007 - 08:34am
And it would be bad because???..... I can't wait to see them again in action.

On the Set of VALKYRIE - Oct 05, 2007 - 08:31am
There is many reasons why this movie will be excellent, the biggest one in my view is Tom Cruise. He's a good actor and has the experience to do somethign like this. I hope people won't go into the childish usual ranting of his beliefs and all that crap because it has NOTHING to do with his movies. I guess to have Singer directing this, he probably wants to make amend for his Superman bomb so, I'm sure we can expect his 1110% on this. Can't wait, it looks good.

Which one… - Oct 02, 2007 - 01:21pm
Wasn't the ultimate collector's edition of Blade Runner suppose to come out this week? it's the only thing I though of getting this week. That fantastiCRAP movie was such a disapointment and a borefest, even the first one was better and even then that was a crapfest. I know some people like it but, for me, this movie had so many plotwholes and weaknesses storywise, it was a disaster. in my view of course...

New 1-18-08 Update & Site Found - Oct 01, 2007 - 09:43am
I just heard the roar too after 5 minutes or so... I'm with the fact that it's great to have these things done ina new marketing way to really push the movie. this one I would agree has been done a bit too soon and nothing is really hapenning. even the pictures themselves...when you turn them over, if only they were giving some clues or something but not even. It be nice to get some sort of information on the characters themselves while still keeping the secracy of the film. I do like the idea of a movie coming out and knowing nothing about it...like the old days. I miss the old days where we didn't know what was coming out, no ''script'' review done by a few people who think they are gods amoung movies.

Apollo Chaos in INCREDIBLE HULK - Sep 20, 2007 - 08:51am
Well, My feeling on this is still the fact that this second Hulk movie can't be worst then the first one. Now, of course the first one wasn't all that bad, it had strong potential and very good casting but over all, very disapointed. But, from the direction this 2nd movie appears to be taking, I can't wait to see this new Hulk. Still think the biggest mistake they are doing is casting Liv Tyler for Betty Ross but, she can surprise me so I will wait before I lash out more critisism. Ed Norton looks ok, he's a good actor but, I guess I don't see him as being Bruce Banner. he might surprise me also...time will tell. in any case, I will be in line to see this.

THOR #3 - Sep 16, 2007 - 11:27am
Well Tim, tell us how you really feel about CW and Marvel... Kidding. Well, i guess I'm not shy to say I loved the whole CW and the New Avengers and all that so I don't feel like you guys with all the hate and quitting comics and all that. I do feel though that you touched an interesting point tim that needs to be discussed. In my view, the idea that for the past years, comics have tried to be a little bit more realistic for the goal to be closer to our reality. In that aspect, I think one of the drawbacks of doing something like this is that we loose the point of why these gyus are doing what they are doing. Comic heroes do it (in our view I think) because they have something that the ordinary people don't have and they can make a difference. Civil War presented the idea that even if you do it because you have advantages over the normal people, the logistic of the reality they try to impose in comics becomes the message that goverments would normally try to impose control over people who are more powerful then usual. this whole thing almost killed the nobillity of someone giving his life for someone he doesn't know and in the Marvel comics these past few years, it's not really present as to why should ''heroes'' would even do what they do. This issue of Thor was great because I was an anti-registration voters all along and to see Iron Man being beat the crap out of was excellent. I wasn't going to read this serie and only try the first or 2nd issue but so far, it's great and will continue to read it. I just hope along the way more comics will go bad to maybe just be a little bit more heroic and less about fighting amonf themselves. It was done, it was great (in my view, CW was excellent but let's not go over THAT debate again), now it's time to maybe go back to the initial goal of these heroes.

Bourne Stunt Coord. Hired for BOND 22 - Sep 05, 2007 - 01:03pm
Well Metal, I guess I see where your coming from but I just don't believe it. I will mention a few things you said and try to present my point of view: 1- ''If Bond wanted to stop the short falls, just kill the Villains...it's simple'': I would say for any movies, any ''heroes'' and any logical person out there, all would know that the biggest most impossible thing to do in a movie would be to just go and kill the villain. First of all, we have to see things from 2 points of view. One is from the scpectator who is watching the movie and the other is from the actual movie character itself. We see guys as ''villains'' or ''heroes'' when we watch the movie but, logically, do we see anyone going around killing someone just because we tag them as being villains? We can't think of anyone going around just killing peolpe just because we think they are villains. That is the role of Bond and being in the secret service of her majesty, they have to investigate, they need proof, they need to research leads that could give them the justification to kill someone in the end and we see this in the movie. That's why this bond is really good since he's taking the time to research, to try to confirm things before just being face with a villain and that's it. 2- ''Other problems with Casino Royale... lay in the fact that Bond doesn't care about the women in his life at all. When they are killed, his attitude is "So what!" Well, the girl who betrayed him had good reason to, one that anyone would understand...she was trying to save the life of her true love. But Bond says of her demise..."The Bitch IS Dead!"...Wow, what a nice guy!!!'': Well, from there I would say this. Have you ever been in love Metal? Have you ever trusted someone for the first time and felt like you would die if she was gone? In this movie, we see Bond trying to be all macho yet he actually falls in love and THEN only learns she betrayed him. Who would not in their right mind feel betrayed, lost or angry? Regardless of why she did it, it is 100% normal to feel what he felt and we don't even know if he's just pretending to be all mean and macho but we do know this event puts Bond in a place where he now knows he needs to detach himself with girls because it COULD affect his job, his way of life and most importantly, his missions. That's why Casino Royal was an excellent movie in my view, way better then Transporter 2 (even though it was fun to watch). The character development in CR is excellent, especially with the concept of this story being the first Bond so, we have to think as if Bond should be different then what we usually know, it's his first adventure. Anyway, that's what I think anyway.

Cast Photo of Operation VALKYRIE - Sep 05, 2007 - 09:19am
this just drives me nut... Get over it people, Tom Cruise is not a whacko and he's not something to be embarrassed. Playing the same old tune of 'TC is stupid, TC is whack, bla bla bla''...that is something to be embarassed. The guy made great movies, he's a good actor, that's it. Let it go kids, because he won't be going away and he will keep on making great movies regardless of what you people say. This movie looks excellent, the sotry looks great, the actors look great, TC looks great, I can't wait to see this movie. But this childish name calling on someone who is obviously more exentric then usual, come on. Anyway, sorry but it had to come out.

DVD Shopping Bag Column Has Arrived - Sep 04, 2007 - 09:01am
Question...how come we don't get the weekly DVD shopping list anymore on Tuesdays?

Bourne Stunt Coord. Hired for BOND 22 - Sep 04, 2007 - 08:57am
ahhh, ''Captainjacksparibs'', you beat me to it. Transporter 2 was fun and even better then the first one. But I do admit that to compare Transporter 2 with Casino Royal makes no sense what so ever. I know everyone has their own opinion but come on, this comparaison is a bit thin no? Anyway, not too sure if this is good news for the next bond. The first Bourne I liked a lot. The second was a good story in my view but it was almost the same thing as the first one. Then the third Bourne in my view is just a copy/paste of everything that was done in the first movies. Nothing new, NOTHING came of ot the 3rd bourne except the story was a bit different but it was the same fights, the same action scene, cue the car chase at 43 minutes within the movie, cue the close fights where you hardly see anything, etc...but, that's just me.

Apatow Scores Again with SUPERBAD - Aug 27, 2007 - 12:05pm
This summer was a great sumemr for movies. In a time where I broke with my girl, movies this summer were a great way to spend time with friends. The only movie where I felt I wanted to die die DIE was FF2. Man I felt this was a waste of my time but, this friend of mine paid for my ticket so, lucky me. I also didn't see knocked up but will surelly see it once it's on DVD. Superbad was just so so funny, I can't remember laughing so hard about smart jokes like this. Yes there is lots and lots of profanity in it but, it's done smartly and that's why it's a supergood movie (hehe).

Ang Lee Gets NC-17 For LUST, CAUTION - Aug 24, 2007 - 08:47am
I think one way to look at it is to see the rating system as a guideline and as a way to have a certain control on who sees what. On TV, there is a lot more factors that give a certain control for kids to have/not have access to things they should/should not see. For theatre, it's different. The control is harder since there is more factors that can't prevent access to kids so logically, the ratings have to be harsher then the ones on TV. Of course, censorship, religious groups, personal vendetta's against violence and sex, prudeness from people, all these things makes it hard for supposelly ''freedom of expression'', even more so in the US. In any case, if the movie appears to be good, at least here in Canada I know I'll have an easy access to it (not that we don't have guidelines but, here I believe things are a bit looser and people understand easier with things like this).

Anti-Religion Not in GOLDEN COMPASS - Aug 21, 2007 - 03:06pm
Agentcooper, I would honestly say this was one of the best posting I've ever seen in these types of discussion. Heck...now I feel like apologizing too for my renting. as mentionned also by someone else, I don't think what we are discussing here is anti-christian or anti-religious. I see it more as, when people are trying to push someone else's action according to their beliefs, that's when I know I don't feel confortable. This movie is a good exemple where, one aspect of religion is being ''forced'' or changed or adapted to respond the pressure imposed by different parties (which yes, they could be none given but my gut feeling is pressure was imposed). Where I do see my ''apology'' is whether I'm religious or not, I don't want to generalize religions as being groups that pressure people all the time or impose things to other people. It is true it's not everyone that act accordingly to one's idea or belief. Also as mentionned before, this might bring so much publicity, as the saying goes, ''any publicity is always better then no publicity''.

Anti-Religion Not in GOLDEN COMPASS - Aug 21, 2007 - 08:56am
Man, these type of news kills me, just kills me so...sorry but I need to vent something here. I guess in a world where religion rules the actions of the world instead of common sense, this is not surprising at all. It's a sad moment in our history of humanity when religious groups can even influence how a movie is made or how books or TV shows are made. The idea that something could be ''anti'' religious is one of THE biggest pile of crap ever conceived by religious group. Who gives a flying crap what you believe, it's a movie!!! The fact that the original story was originally written a certain way in the book, why change it on screen? You dont like, screw you. Go look somewhere else. If that's how it's written, that's how it should be on screen, NOTHING ELSE. So sick of this religious crap where people can't say what they want when it's related to religions. So what if your offended, I'm offended big time by religious people who are whinning about crap like this all the time, do I go and cry about it? Do I go and say ''you offend me and my beliefs'' and bla bla bla??? Anyway, I will go see this movie but, knowing they cut some stuff just to appeal to the religious ''people'', this movie has lost respect from me, a lot.

Katie Holmes as WONDER WOMAN? - Aug 20, 2007 - 03:12pm
I guess I prefer the idea of that woman in 300, Lena Headey. she has the look of a strong woman, the built and the character inside her. she'd be perfect I think. For Lucy, my feeling is, the choice appears to be too easy in a sense. She's knowed for Zena which is a copy of WW in a sense. As a director, would you cast someone that is too well knowned for a role which is pretty much the same type of role she was knowned for? hardly.... Now....the Katie Holmes bashing. I though this whole ''she's stupid because of Tom Cruise's religion'' crap was all over but I guess not. Many comments were made here that made sense (she's not tall enough, not strong enough, etc...). Those were good comments and that's what I love about this site, people who can talk about something with good (even harsh) commetns. But come on...when someone comes down and just bashes someone else without ideas or actual thoughs? What is that? anyway, I've never been a big dan of WW so whoever they pick will play a big role in my intentions of going to see the movie. If I feel I don't sense the actress they will pick to play WW isn't strong enough, I will probably prefer to wait for a night of rentals.

SUPERBAD Geeks Laugh at Competition - Aug 20, 2007 - 02:43pm
Suberbad was so good, it was excellent. I went to see fi with a girl who couldn't care less about these types of movies and she loved it, laughed so hard, we were both crying. It was excellent.

Wahlberg, Statham Reunite For GI JOE? - Aug 14, 2007 - 06:22pm
mmmmmm, no. I guess I don't see Walberg playing Duke at all. He needs to be someone a bit older and more mature. he's a fine actor but, it just doesn't seem right to me.

JOHN FROM CINCINNATI: His Visit: Day Nine - Aug 14, 2007 - 12:16pm
CNN reported today the show has been cancelled so, regardless of how we felt about the show, it's done, it's over.
