Goodbye Maniacs (Article) - 2/27/2015 10:24:57 AM

A sad news indeed, RIP Mr. Nimoy, live long and prosper in the stars.

Ha domino2008, I forgot about those crazy Battlestar Gallactica arguments and can't remember who it was that kept posting crazy stats on the old show Vs. the new show.

Just went on a memory lane of youtube videos and watched some old Movie-Maven videos with Tara Perry...good'old times.

Goodbye Maniacs (Article) - 2/26/2015 5:07:36 AM

So....everyone is moving AWAY from the site and going on Facebook??    :-(

I figured, here's something I thought the other day, my top 5 memories/Best of of Mania's/Cinescape site:

5- The Tara videos: She was pretty, she was fun, she was a geek. The way the early videos came out and she was sharing, talking and presenting some geeky news, it was fun...she was misses since her last appearence.

4- The movie news: This site had some exclusive news and it was fun. Some were small, some were great, but all made me think and made me come here to discuss in general specific news which added to the fact that most people here liked to discuss and not whine like a little bitch.

3- The comments: Man, did I ever liked to come here and discuss geeky things. Some were fun, some were ''troll like'' behaviour, but all were made out of fun and admiration of geeky things and this site really helped me cement my passion for geeky stuff. Discussing movies, comics, tv shows, even books, it was awsome.

2- The people: There are a lot of people here who liked to really discuss and exchange opinions on many things raised by Mania. The names...look at the last 400 comments and you will know who you are. I was glad to bring some opinions and share my points of view with many of you, some more then others. In the end, even if we didn't agree, there was a great sense of respect in talking with you all. You rarelly get that sense of community online anymore and I was glad to have been through those moments with you all.

1- The Lost era: That TV show for me really was the best show ever but, Mania really, really made it more special by coming here and discuss all the mysteries, plots or possible consequences of the show. The links towards all the special stuff ABC was adding during the summers, the reviews done for each show, the many endless discussions of a plot's crazy development. All that added to the mix of creating the passion AND need to come to Mania.

Sometimes, speaking out loud those memories is a good way to go through the process of loss and trying to deal with it. I still come here everyday hoping to see some good news...

I think it's great people will continue to speak to each other on a personal lever on FB....I wanted to share I will not. I use Facebook once a month on average and just couldn't care less about that site.

I really hope this site continues after March 31st and if it doesn't, que serra serra, whatever will be will be.

Just bought Season four of Games of Throne, can't wait to re-live all the episodes. Finishing the 3rd book at the same time so, nice to read and re-live the moments on tv at the same time.

I'd put-in some money if it's to help save Mania...

Love this show EMPIRER, like, the best ever, like so good, like, oh.my.god.....like, woooho!!

Now i'm so on the edge for those pictures.....

Goodbye Maniacs (Article) - 2/20/2015 6:01:48 AM

Just saw the picture of the new Aquaman...I am disapointed...

My first impression was, this is Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones except he has a trident with him.

Either the picture is too dark or, the costume is too general and far away from what the Aquaman comic character's suit is.

Not impressed...

p.s. of course using the orange underwear would not work but, the way he looks now is too close to what we have seen before in GOT or any type of character like that...IMO

Wow, those are all great answers people, glad everyone is still talking and discussing geek things.

Now here are some things I'd like to add:

1- As for who's the strongest, I've always shared my view that the Hulk IS the strongest out of everyone else. He's as strong as Thor, Superman, Hyperion, Sentry, Silver Surfer, Thanos and so on. What gives him the edge is his X-Factor about his rage adding him more strenght which can be limitless since...the madder he gets, the stronger he gets. And for the record, Hulk beat Sentry in World War Hulk. The Sentry can calm the Hulk down which gives him an adventage but in WWH, that didn't stop the Hulk since he was so mad...even the Sentry thanked him for finally having someone he could lash out to that could take it...and he did. Also, when the magazine Wizard ranked the all time battles of all comic heroes, the Hulk was # 10. He could fight Superman and he could withstand easily his red eye beams, his superspeed and strenght. Also, the World War Hulk would have better fighting skills than Superman...but overtime, Superman's speed might give him that little edge he would need to beat him overall (but I still think by close combat, Superman loses hands down).

2- In my mind, the next Spider-Man should still be Peter Parker and treat it as a ''batman, james bond'' re-casting type of scenario. New movies with new guy, that should be ok (although I prefered the latest incarnation of him in the movie, don't know why they don't keep the guy)

3- They should've used some of his ideas for the next movies...maybe not all of them but at least some general ones. It's nice to bring in fresh air to the mix but, have respect man.

4- For me, Lost holds a nice place in my heart. Coming here to the site, discussing theories of what was, could be or who could be thinking what...no other TV show has ever done anything like that so in my mind, it's the best tv show overall. The things the show added on the side like the youtube videos, the websites of the Dharma initiative, etc..., in those days that was new...today, it's common. But as it happened, for me it just added to the excitement that was the show. Funny enough, I'm watching the show all over again now, halfway through the 3rd season now.

So.....here are some things to talk about while the site either lives or die:

- Who is strongest in the comic world (I know it's so obvious it's the Hulk but, some geeks out there say otherwise...)

- Spider-man: Black or white for the reboot? (there's only one Spidey, Peter Parker!!!)

- Is it really bad that Disney isn't using the notes/stories George Lucas had written for Episodes 7 and up? (they are using some old designs and stuff but, nothing from him....I say it sucks).

- Is Game of Thrones as good or better than Lost (I say no...Lost was unique and new, GOT is from books pre-written so even though they changed certain thing, the general ideas were pre-written).

Goodbye Maniacs (Article) - 2/17/2015 10:14:42 AM

Here I thought I was doing well with my 700 dvd BR collection...

I still come here everyday just to read everyone's ''goodbye'' comments.

Whatever happens for the future, this sense of community on a website is rare and great to have lived the experience.
