Scoop Feedback:

3:27 P.M., January 18, 2002... The Zoetrope production website has posted for its readers where they can go to get audition information for Jeepers Creepers 2 -- and the subtitle of the sequel was revealed for the first time on this site.

Here's the relevant information from the Zoetrope website about JC2:

"The first film we'll be casting is JEEPERS CREEPERS II: LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL. Currently in the Actors Building, you can find character descriptions, as well as a letter from writer/director Victor Salva describing what he looks for when casting."

[A great scoop came out of the blue from Ryan McIntosh.]

Now, can any of our readers get to the Actors Building section of the Zoetrope website? It's in a members only section, so we couldn't read the character breakdowns.

4:20 P.M., January 18, 2002... Another reader that wishes to be known as "The Creeper" sent us the character breakdowns from the Zoetrope website as written by director Victor Salva. We're issuing a mild SPOILER WARNING to everyone who proceeds past this point!

"Here are brief descriptions of the characters in my upcoming film and some of the traits I tried to write into them. If you think you might be right for any of the parts in LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL: JEEPERS CREEPERS II, then you should submit your headshot and audio performance to Zoetrope.com.

"The core cast of characters in this exciting sequel is a High School Basketball Team. They have just become State Champions. They are on a long trip home from their championship game, with the team's coaches and three Cheerleaders, when the bus breaks down and is attacked by the Creeper -- the strange flesh eating Creature from the first JEEPERS CREEPERS film.

"The kids struggle amongst themselves and against this hungry, supernatural beast -- trying to stay alive on what quickly becomes the most terrifying night of their lives.

"Because most of us when we are in high school, boys especially, are forced to hide any feelings of vulnerability, fear or sadness, the interesting thing dramatically about the characters in JEEPERS CREEPERS II is that those feelings rise to the surface even in the strongest of guys on this bus. So the actors playing these guys really have to be able to portray terror, fear and deep sadness.

"THE CHARACTERS:

SCOTT BRADDOCK

"Hot-tempered first stringer. The talented Braddock, who many look up to as the sort of powerhouse of the team, is secretly very troubled young man. Because he feels held back by the coaches and has been unable to distinguish himself on the court, Braddock is a dangerous kid who gets so frightened when the Creeper appears, he bullies his cronies and everyone else into taking chances with their lives to protect his.

DEAUNDRE "DOUBLE D." DAVIS

"Good natured Captain of the Team, Black, smart and talented. Double D. is ego-less and understands the power of teamwork. He knows he is a powerful player and feels the need to show it when on the court. When things get dark and scary Double D. does go head-to-head with Scott Braddock - challenging his not-so-good ideas and searching for a way to stay alive and help everyone else do the same.

IZZY BOHEN

"Student Sports Writer for the High School Paper. Izzy is gay but has never announced it officially - though there is lots of speculation at the school and within the team. He is a good sports writer and is respected by the team - except by a few whose ugly fears about Izzy rise as the going gets tough. Izzy is an intelligent kid who turns out to be an even-tempered leader when things get dark and scary.

KIMBALL WARD

"Double D.'s best friend. Protective, strong silent type. Much more volatile and verbal than his best buddy. When push comes to shove on the bus and things get serious, Kimball is a fighter.

ADAM TAYLOR

"More even tempered that the dark Braddock, Adam has a good sense of the zany, is kind of the goof-off so keeps everyone on the team laughing but is still a talented player. One of Braddock's cronies but probably the least serious.

DANTE BELASCO

"Handsome guy of the Team. Every girl wants him. He knows he is good looking and is very cocky about it. Is proud to be part of Braddock's little group within the team. Where else would a guy this good-looking be? Dante has a hard time retaining his cool when things start to get scary.

JAKE SPENCER

"Jake is the nervous type and not really a part of Braddock's group. This is a boy who is smart, knows lots of little known facts, and really starts to fall apart emotionally when things get tough.

BETO SANCHELLA

"Hispanic first stringer on the Team. Lots of cocky personality but a good-hearted kid - but excluded from Braddock's group.

MINXIE HAYES

"Sweet natured Cheerleader for the Team, troubled by the psychic dreams she has when the going gets tough. Minxie becomes a reluctant conduit between the kids trapped on the bus and the terrible Creature who is stalking them.

RHONDA TRUITT

"Another Cheerleader and Braddock's Girlfriend. A smart girl who questions why she is still with her troubled, unappreciative boyfriend and eventually has to stand against him when things get intense.

CHELSEA FARMER

"Spirited Cheerleader, Black and very emotional. Strong willed but shaken to the core when things start to go wrong. Chelsea tries to keep her cool and keep the team together until her fears get the best of her and she ends up going against her better judgment.

ANDY "BUCKY" BUCK

"Student Team Manager. Proud to be a part of the team - just wishes he were taller and more athletic so he could play instead of manage. Teased as a sort of team 'dork.' Bucky knows first aid and is knowledgeable about the bus as well. He keeps his cool but does break down when it becomes certain that no one is within radio range to get them out of their trouble, and it becomes certain all on the bus will die.

JONNY YOUNG

"The youngest and smallest member of the team - though Jonny is a good player with a lot of speed. Jonny's size, energy and cockiness make him a favorite of Braddock, who feels unthreatened and protective of him. Unlike other members of the team, Jonny has been kind of adopted by Braddock and his cronies like a sort of 'mascot' almost.

COACH CHARLIE HANNA

"Head Coach of the Team, the Bannon County Wombats. Black, powerful, good-natured, fair and with a terrific understanding of the emotional dynamics of his team.
"

July 31, 2002... Creatur Corner has landed the world's first look at The Creeper creature design from the sequel. It's a particularly scary image of the film's baddie, which makes the Corner's exclusive that much more cooler -- and it was selected for its presentation by the film's director and site content writer Ryan Rotten.

August 16, 2002... Jeepers Creepers 2 has bumped its release from Fevruary 14/03 to April 18/03. Thanks to Fangoria.com, we've learned that the film wrapped filming a week ago today on August 9. Special visual effects work is being done by the San Francisco-based effects house staffed by ex-ILMers, The Orphanage. [Straight from the mouth Fangoria.]

August 12, 2003... MGM has supplied us with a whack of stills from the upcoming JEEPERS CREEPERS 2, continuing the reign of terror for The Creeper. It's day 22 of the Creeper's 23-day long feeding frenzy. As the final hours wind down the appetite of the Creeper only intensifies. Deciding upon one last minute late night snack, the Creeper strands a group of state basketball champs in the middle of nowhere and starts picking them off one-by-one. The big question is: does anyone survive to see the next day?
