Writer-director Victor Salva is talking about his film, JEEPERS CREEPERS, which became the first project in Francis Ford Coppola's 10 picture deal with MGM.
While talking to E! Online's Anderson Jones, Salva spoke of the upcoming film was inspired, in part, by films like BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and SIXTH SENSE, saying, "It was the summer of BLAIR WITCH and THE SIXTH SENSE, and I said to myself, 'I used to make those movies in high school. Why don't I go and make my own monster movie?'"
Before that though, Coppola, acting as producer, liked Salva's script and saw potential. Salva explains that the film's story is about creatures that only appear once every 23 years, and stay for 23 day period. Salav talks of Coppola's response, saying, "Francis immediately saw it as a franchise. He said, 'This all takes place in one day. This is the first of 23 days.'"
Salva also revealed that McFarlane Toys will be doing action figures from the film, which will most likely hit stores well after the film's theatrical release, and when the DVD comes out.
