Apparently, there has been a fifth new casting addition of the upcoming 4th season of LOST, says Entertainment Weekly. Actor Jeff Fahey(most recently seen as "J.T" in GRINDHOUSE) has joined the cast of the show according to executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. He'll be joining Jeremy Davies (Saving Private Ryan), Lance Reddick (The Wire), Ken Leung (The Sopranos), and British actress Rebecca Mader (The Devil Wears Prada) as new characters. Creators of the ABC series are currently shooting the first show of the 16-episode season.

No word yet on what character Fahey will be playing but exec producer Lindelof had this to say on the casting...

''Fahey is one of those actors who feels like he fits into the Lost model: He's enormously talented and will be vaguely recognizable to some people, but he'll be able to land on our island without most people going, 'Oh, I know who that guy is.' And especially for the part we cast him for, he has exactly the right sensibilities.''

Big thanks to Mania scooper, Snallygaster, for sending this bit along..

With only 16 episodes, where are they going to squash all these people in. I hope they are mostly flashback characters.

Personally, I'm curious to know the price of these 16 episode seasons when it hits DVD next year. I have a feeling they'll charge the same amount as the previous seasons...which will be LAME. We'll see.

I'm sure the price will stay the same. Just like the upcoming release of the shorten Season 6 part 2 of the Sopranos costs as much as the full seasons cost.

I was going to comment about how this seems like a lot of new characters to be adding, but then I thought about it and they added just as many or more in seasons past who weren't really main characters: Tom, that guy Juliette killed, Nicki and Paulo, Bernard, Richard. I don't think things will get too crowded.

Wow,,,,i love Jeff Fahey,,,,he was great in LawnMower Man and in Body Parts.....he never seemed to make it real big, but he was always around, like Bruce Campbell.....I love lost and I think the casting has been great. I can't believe it is already gonna be season 4,,,,,,jermey Davies is always good, Ken Leung was good in Rush Hour and X-Men 3, so it will be interesting what will transpire,,,,,I be Ken plays someone in Like Sun or Jins flashbacks or something

I'll bet that all the new additions to the cast are the crew from the boat that Jack contacted at the end of last season. No doubt they'll be up to some nefarious deeds.

I love Davies and Fahey, and am only slightly familiar with the others. But all in all, this seems like a great addition. I guess we'll find out when the season airs.

rudewordsmith,

Very interesting theory that these new cast members are coming from "Not Penny's Boat." I wonder if any of them are involved with Rousseau at all, perhaps someone responsible for sending her to the island. I suspect that the premiere episode for next season will be about Rousseau so if any of these new characters are part of her backstory we may see some of them then.

Hmm. Not too sure about this one. Fahey has been ok, but he's so B-movie. I hope he doesn't drag the show down. Hey, who knows? He could surprise me. There would be something new - being surprised by Lost? Who would have thought it?

While I agree with rudewordsmith about the other 3 characters being on "Not Penny's Boat," Lindelhof's quote makes it sound like Fahey will actually be *on* the island. Perhaps he's a new Other...someone connecting to Richard Alpert and the Temple?

or like Jacob perhaps?

It's good to see Fahey gettin steady work again. He's one of those actors who is under the radar that Hollywood seems to ignore. I personally don't care for Lost but it's good to see him acting again.
