JEREMIAH kicks off second season tonight

Tonight on Showtime the second season of JEREMIAH begins with a two-part episode entitled "Letters From the Other Side". When we last saw Jeremiah (Luke Perry), he had been captured by the forces of Valhalla Sector, the mysterious and dangerous remains of the U.S. Government following the "Big Death" plague that wiped out nearly all of the world's adult population. Held captive and tortured for the information he possesses about Thunder Mountain, Jeremiah's future seems bleak -- which is why it's up to Kurdy (Malcolm Jamal-Warner) and a new ally who calls himself Mister Smith (THE LORD OF THE RINGS star Sean Astin) to find a way to rescue Jeremiah.

The biggest change to the sophomore season of the show is the addition of Astin to the regular cast. His character, Mister Smith, claims to hear the voice of God and somehow has knowledge of future events. Astin will also direct the twelfth episode of the second season.

BABYLON 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski has written twelve of the season's fifteen episodes. Fans of Straczynski's work in the B5 universe know that the writer sets up many mysteries to be mined in future episodes, and JEREMIAH's first season was no stranger to Straczynski's brand of storytelling. The second season begins by starting to wrap up many of the unresolved elements left dangling (such as who Jeremiah's father is and what his connection to Valhalla Sector is) as well as introduces a whole new threat and mission for the show's characters. Which side will control the future of America, and will the Big Death return to wipe out all of the survivors?


The second season of JEREMIAH kicks off tonight at 10 PM on Showtime.
