EW.com is reporting that sources say CBS is in talks to renew the apocalyptic drama JERICHO

Fans of the show have been inundating the network with calls, e-mails, letters, and tons of nuts.  Insiders are saying CBS is considering order seven more episodes which they would air sometime this winter or spring. They hope they can get most of the cast, including Skeet Ulrich, to return.  If the show's ranking & fanbase then show improvement, a full 22 episode order could possibly be made for the 2008-2009 season.

No official word yet from CBS. Stay tuned.

I would love for this to happen, but I won't hold my breath. Actaully I'd be happy if they just did a few more episodes to tie things up. I hate not having closure.

I swear, if I don't find out WHO we nuked with our ICBM's in the earlier episodes, I'm gonna pop a cap in someone's ass.

I don't what the hype is about? with this.
It comes off as mini series. I found it rather long in the tooth and depressing.
Why would anybody want this drawn out.
another season.?
At least you got more ep's than John Doe,
That was unforegivable!

Compared to other post-apoc TV series and films, it's not that depressing at all.

I want a continuation of the series, not closure. If I'm interesting in lightheartedness, I'd watch OPRAH.

Jericho is a quality show and if they can bring it back then cool. depressing? Dude, it a post -apoc show. What do you want? "oh gee, we just go nuked and half the country is dead, but hey, its all good, cheer up"
Its going to have some aspects of sadness, but for the most part the show was about surviving and moving on.

Hopefully this pans out. Jericho was one of those shows that should have never been canceled along with Family Guy, Firefly etc.

At least give us 2 or 4 hours to wrap things up.

It would be cool if studios, or networks, could somehow keep a little emergency budget to "close out" serial stories. They could apply it to shows with annoying audiences, like Firefly, Farscape, Jericho, etc.
(And yeah, I did write a letter or two when Farscape got yanked...)
Here's hoping that this series, at least, has a chance to wrap up. I hope they won't try to stretch out another 22 eps. Take the 7 and put this story to bed with some class.

They wouldn't be "stretching" it out for 22 episodes. The premise of the show is very open ended. It could easily run for 8 seasons with plenty of stories to tell. It's not really a mystery show that needs to be wrapped up. Yeah there are some questions about who's behind the bombs, how is the new government set up, etc. But once those questions are answered, the story of Jericho is still there. The town still has to struggle to survive after the nuclear attacks.

I think CBS owes Jericho another shot, because it was their poor handling of the show that killed it. Jericho start off fairly strong, it was a surprise hit. Yet the first episodes were the worst of the season. Putting it on hiatus for weeks is what lost the audience. Without that midseason break, I doubt the ratings would have dropped the way they did, considering how strong the episodes were in the spring. For me, Jericho went from a show I DVRed and watch when nothing else was on in the fall, to a show I made a point to watch live in the spring.
