CBS has issued a new press release with their upcoming schedule for early 2008. The release covers some of their news programs, reality shows and Jericho.

Here's the press release:

Game shows, news magazines, the return of two popular reality series, the season premieres of two returning scripted programs and the debut of a new comedy highlight new programming to CBS's primetime lineup in January and February.

Ushering in the New Year is the game show "Power of 10," reality favorites "Big Brother" and "Survivor," the return of "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and "
Jericho," the series premiere of the comedy "The Captain" and original episodes of "48 Hours Mystery."

"Power of 10," hosted by Drew Carey ("
The Price is Right"), returning Wednesday, Jan. 2 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), is a high-stakes game that challenges contestants to guess the behaviors, opinions and lifestyle choices of the American public for the chance to win $10 million dollars. Each week, contestants must decide if they have their finger on the pulse of the American majority and can accurately predict the results of these nationwide surveys.

All new broadcasts of "48 Hours Mystery" will air on Tuesday, Jan. 22 and Tuesday, Jan. 29 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT both nights). Susan Zirinsky is executive producer.

"The Captain," premiering Monday, Jan. 28 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT), is a comedy about a wildly eclectic group of people whose lives are intertwined through the place they all call home, a fabled Hollywood apartment building, El Capitan, which they've dubbed "The Captain." It stars Fran Kranz (The TV Set), Chris Klein (American Pie), Jeffrey Tambor ("Arrested Development"), Raquel Welch (The Three Musketeers), comedian Al Madrigal, Valerie Azlynn ("Two and a Half Men") and Joanna Garcia ("Reba").

"The New Adventures of Old Christine," the critically acclaimed comedy about a divorced working mom trying to juggle motherhood, work and dating, starring Emmy Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus, begins its third season Monday, Jan. 28 (9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT).

The 16th edition of "Survivor" premieres Thursday, Feb. 7 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT). Hosted by Jeff Probst, "Survivor" has won its time period every week this season in viewers and key demographics.

The first ever winter edition of "Big Brother" premieres Tuesday, Feb. 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) with additional broadcasts on Wednesdays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) beginning Feb. 13 and Sundays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) beginning Feb. 17. Julie Chen returns as host of the live weekly eviction broadcast.

Back in response to one of the most unprecedented and impassioned displays of fan support on behalf of a television program, "Jericho," the drama about what happens in the aftermath of a nuclear explosion in the once peaceful town of Jericho, returns for its second season on Tuesday, Feb. 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT). "Jericho" stars Skeet Ulrich, Ashley Scott, Lennie James, Kenneth Mitchell, Brad Beyer and Alicia Coppola.

As previously announced, the six-hour mini-series "Comanche Moon" will be broadcast Sunday, Jan. 13 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), Tuesday, Jan. 15 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) and Wednesday, Jan. 16 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

CBS has also completed production on episodes of the game show "Do You Trust Me." A scheduling announcement will be made at a later date.

I'm glad it's going to come back, but I'm also pissed that it'll most likely come back only to close the plot and not leave us hanging. I'm afraid it's been entirely too long for even fans to give a nut about the show.

I wonder if it's coming back because it had leftovers and it's during striketime?

WhiteKnight • Dec 04, 2007, 08:39am •
These 7 episodes were filmed after the first season wrapped, so they're not leftovers. A very vocal fan base was able to bring back the series after it was canceled, but everyone is under the understanding the show will be done unless it attracts a new audience and a way to produce it for less money can be found.

If the strike continues for long enough it may be one of the only shows pumping out new programming into mid March, which may be what the show needs to attract a new audience. Still, I worry TKay is right and that entirely too much time has elapsed for the existing fan base to give much of a shit at this point.

My wife & I are extremely excited about Jericho's return. We both loved watching the first season and will be glad to see new episodes. I can only hope that the fans do come back. If CBS is serious about giving it a chance, maybe they'll come up with some really good promotions.

So, do I catch up on Jericho on DVD and watch in March only to be left hanging if the execs decide to can the shop in a cliff hanger? Or do I wait until season 3 is assured to catch up?

I hear it's a great show, just didn't want to jump into the show mid stream last year.

I've been spreading the word trying to get people to watch the show on DVD but you can watch it for free on Veoh! Totally worth it.

What was so special about this show? No really! Ive never seen it. Is it something to do with the holocaust was it something that was worthy in passing up lets say Galatica or Stargate for? Psychological thriller! I think I saw the first episode, im not even sure. Was it something about an epidemic? Give me the quick quick version of what the show was about, maybe I'll catch it.

Glad it's back.

I certainly think you should catch up on season one before you try to see season two, Myrddin. It's going to be pretty difficult to follow what's going on if you don't. I suggest going the DVD route. I got mine for less than $40, and I assure you it's money well spent. I just hope new audience members who didn't see season one don't stay away because they didn't see the first season or because they're afraid there won't be a season three. Our ship is sunk if they do.

Glad to hear you're spreading the word, movielord. I was afraid the huge gap between new episodes would result in the fans not caring anymore. Hopefully that's not the case.

As far as what MAKES, PRESENT TENSE, the show special, I can say it in two words. Character development. This is the only series I've seen in about a decade that's been successful in making all of its players believable and relevant to the story. I will honestly shed tears if this doesn't get picked up for more episodes, because it will be like loosing part of my extended family. I'm that caught up in these peoples lives, even if they don't really exist.
