Following in the footsteps of Lost and Prison Break, CBS has announced that they will split the first season of the nuclear holocaust drama Jericho into two half-season.  Each half season will contain all new episodes, a stratagy similar to that of ABC's Lost.

The first half of Jericho's freshman season is expected to end Nov. 29 with a cliffhanger finale.  The series, starring Skeet Ulrich, will then return Feb. 14, 2007, with a recap of the first 11 episodes, followed by a new episode every Wednesday for the rest of the season.

The split is designed to avoid repeating episodes, again similar to Lost, which ended the first half of its season on Nov. 8 and will disappear from the airwaves before returning in February.

Hey it's either a break now or a really long break in the summer. You know I have never seen an episode of Jericho, I don't watch a lot of network tv (Lost, anything on Movie network). Is it any good, and what's the deal?

Madmanic, I officially stopped watching this snoozefest last week. IMHO, it isn't a bad show, it just seems to be going nowhere very slowly and throwing out a lot of red herrings that make one think that something exciting is about to happen. But it never does.

It's taking its sweet sweet time. Still a good show though. I mean the aftermath of a nuclear war (possible war anyway) is kinda cool.

Great, this is going to be the new trend. All the shows are going to have a mid-season break.

split seasons...summer seasons...oh for the good old '70's, reruns and battle of the network stars! I've been watching this, but mellon, I too am close to calling it quits. It is slow and each episode seems to be running around in circles. Get it moving CBS! How many times does the dad have to ALMOST die? Each week is the same story set against a different backdrop. By the time I get done writing this I may have lost complete interest in Jericho. Hope you all are watching Heroes and Friday Night Lights, they are excellent. And Scrubs is back at the end of the month, woo-hoo!!

Whatever the @#$% happened to TV seasons just playing the hell out? Do these corporate monkeys actually believe people will come back in droves after not getting their shows for a few months? Who's in charge here? Pfft. On that note, I'd like to point out that while Jericho is interesting (particularly in regards to what's happening OUTside Jericho), it's not nearly as realistic as it should be. All these major cities have been destroyed by nukes, and the townspeople are celebrating Halloween with a party? Please. It'd be chaos. Complete and utter chaos. Nobody trusting anyone. Everyone withdrawing because they're terrified.

It wouldn't happen if they would just make a show with a couple of multi-part stories and some single episode stories too. No these new show like Lost and Prison Break and Jericho are one big movie. If you miss a episode, you are sh!t out of luck. Thats why they break them up into mini-seasons. I would hate to watch 5 new eps of Lost then watch a bunch of out of sync reruns then come back to 5 new eps. people who don't pay attention would get confused real quick and stop watching

Aren't they already doing this with the Sci-Fi Friday-night lineup?
