Robert Rodriguez is in talks with Warner Bros. Pictures to direct the live-action feature version of futuristic 1960s cartoon THE JETSONS. Denise Di Novi and Donald De Line would produce.

The JETSONS' script was written by Adam Goldberg.

Rodriguez also recently met with actor Will Ferrel to discuss Universal Pictures' big screen version of  LAND OF THE LOST, which Ferrel is attached to star in.

seems like every year some studio threatens us with a live action Jetsons flick. Wasnt this cast a few years back and it ended up being DOA?

I like RR, and I liked the Jetsons, but I`m not big on the live-action flicks like The Flintstones a few years back. I know people liked them but I just preferred the cartoon. Maybe this one will look pretty cool. I guess if they can do Transformers, then why not.

Back around 1990, Harry Anderson would have made a great George Jetson. He's too old now.

Doesn't anyone remember The Flintstones movie? I say skip this one RR and go with the Madman comic adaptation you talked about doing a dozen moons ago.

I'll admit that I'm probably bias since I didn't like the cartoon as a kid. But I'll go see this if RR makes this in the vein of Grindhouse. Have Rosie the robot go crazy and use some of those handy pop-out cutlery to dice up some people and I definitly need to see somebody fall into the "cloud" stuff that everyone seems to be floating above. By the way what is that stuff.... anybody know?

Jetsons was not a favorite cartoon for me. I mostly like what Rodriguez has done, so for me it is going to boil down to who is cast to play Jane Jetson (hint: she needs be hot).

Blech - while I have to admit I enjoyed the Scooby Doo movies for what they were, I wish that the more "adult" take (with plenty of innuendo about why Shaggy and Scooby are hungry all the time, why two girls would drive around with this ascot wearing pretty-boy, Velma having a thing for Daphne . . .) had been filmed.

If RR comes up with a parody / adult take on the Jetsons, MAYBE. If it is a family friendly film a la Spy Kids and Shark Boy & Lava Girl . . .

Pass.

No, Judy needs to be hot. Though Jane does have a certain sexiness in her retro mini.
I was not a big fan of the Flintstone movies. They were a near perfect translation of the cartoon, but as I watched them I thought, "Is that it?" All the elements are there but their was no pizzazz. A director with some pizz and zazz like Rodriguez could put the extra something in this to make it more worthwhile. Though I'm actually more interested in the Land of the Lost film mentioned. RR could really do a great job on that.

I enjoyed the first Flintstones movie. Not sure how they can translate the Jetsons to the big screen and make it make sense. I am too interested in the Land of the Lost movie as well.

If RR does do this it will not be for awhile(thank god) he is currently doing Sin City 2 and 3.

I also enjoy RR and like how he can do From Duskt Till Dawn and the come out with a decent movie like Spy Kids. However, i do not know how i feel about The Jetsons movie, this just seem out of his league. I mean if anything he should write it and direct it, that is what he is good at.

And why we are talking about the Flinstons movies and Scooby-Doo is beside me, but i agree that if this was an adult friendly movie, maybe, just maybe.....
