No Carrey to Promote Kick-Ass 2

Plus the new poster

By Robert T. Trate     June 25, 2012

First and foremost one has to ask, did he not see the original film, read the comic book, read the script, or even pay attention to what was going on around him during filming?

Jim Carrey has recently tweeted that he will not be promoting Kick-Ass 2 ,“in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.”

Carrey has remarked that this is due to the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings. He further tweeted “my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”

One has to appreciate his beliefs, but if he felt this strongly about violence to begin with, then why did he do the picture?

Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar had this to say [via Empire]: “[I'm] baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn’t in the screenplay 18 months ago. Yes, the body-count is very high, but a movie called Kick-Ass 2 really has to do what it says on the tin.”.

A strange turn of events for the Kick-Ass sequel.

Kick-Ass 2 enters theaters on August 16, 2013.

Did he not see the ultra violent first movie? And yet he signed up for this one. If he really feels that strongly about it he should give his salary to the Sandy Hook victim's charity. Until he does that then I'll be impressed.

He had already signed the contract & was filming BEFORE Sandy Hook Elementary happened.  Filiming on KA2 started in September 2012 & Sandy Hook happened in December 2012.  People are allowed to change their views on things, right?

So everyone saying things like "Why did he even agree to do it in the first place?", please stop because once he started FILMING in SEPTEMBER, SANDY HOOK in DECEMBER is what made him change his views on things.  By that time he was into the contract & couldn't back out.

I do agree though, maybe he should donate his salary to a worthy cause supporting the reduction of violence in schools.  Not necessarily give it to all the victim's families, but to a cause that may help avoid something like this in the future.

Luckily his core beliefs did allow him to cash the checks.

He is able to promise or hint at doing anything, just to get hands on money.  Just like any good hooker.

he's hit-girl's

He's a piece of shit and, to be honest, yesterday's news.  I 100% believe this is just for publicity.  Hopefully, he will never find work again.  I haven't heard him mentioning any salery give back's though.................

Yep this movie will caude just as much violence as MR poppers caused people to adopt / kidnap penguins.

Yes, Sandy Hook happened after the filming started, but what about the theater shooting in Colorado?  The events of Colombine?  Waco?  You can go back for years and see plenty of tragic shootings that happened during Carrey's career.  This "change of heart" is b.s.  He's just another sad, far-left wing, Hollywood politician yam bag who is catering to everyone else in his social circle so that he can try to get his name back in lights for another 5 1/2 minutes of fame.

He's a one-trick pony, and his trick played out in the mid-90s.

Donate your salary to Sandy Hook, Jim, ease your gentle conscience, and then shut up.

I too am confused with his choice to now distance himself from this movie.  As stated above violent crimes have been happening for years?  The movie title is Kick A$$ 2?  Really Jim?  My teenagers, like 99% of the other fans of this series know...this is a violent film?  Is Hollywood that sheltered or disconnected like our politicians that they really don't know what is going on in the REAL world?  Very dissapointing.

I bet the hypocrite cashes his check for making this movie. nailed it!

Classicrockr 6/25/2013 10:28:48 AM

@captain America:  Like I said, I think he SHOULD donate his salary. There's no way to tell why all the prior violent crimes didn't affect his "feelings" when they happened, but for some reason, Sandy Hook DID affect the way he felt about things.  So people need to give him this one & just wait & see if he changes back again in the future.  He probably will.
