JJ Abrams Talks 1-18-08 "Cloverfield"

Alright, producer JJ Abrams has set the record straight with a bit of energetic attitude in regards to the ultra secretive 1-18-08 movie that hits theaters next year. For one, he says that the two sites ethanhaaswasright.com and ethanhaaswaswrong.com sites have nothing to do with his movie. This is curious because Paramount (who's also producing this 1-18-08 movie) had those videos pulled off youtube the past week.

Here's what JJ Abrams had to say about the upcoming movie and the online experience being circulated:

Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we're doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn't kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat's about what's online? So as you can imagine, we're focusing mostly on THAT. For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.

Found? You mean there is more websites linked to the movie that are around the web still waiting to be seen? Alright, maybe I need to check out that trailer again for clues. Hah, he knows his film better kick ass too. Nice comments, JJ.

I wonder what the ethanhaaswasright site was about and what's happening on August 1st after I did those puzzles. Whatever the case, they are not linked to the movie.

I was so sure that ethanhaaswasright.com was apart of this whole JJ Abrams thing, Now I am more curious about what that site is about because of the time I put into the puzzles and watching the videos and what not...

Especially since Paramount had those videos pulled from YouTube... very interesting.

Thats kind of a bummer....I enjoyed solving those puzzles, and it seemed like it was all about an Alien invasion, which is what this is supposed to be about. Curious. Well, none the less, this is stil great marketing and looks like its gonna be a fun ride.

Has anyone made mention or noticed that the trailer on quicktime you can hear a guy say "I saw it. It's a lion. it's Huge!" ?

Hey, I wonder if this ethanhaaswasright, and ethanhaaswaswrong have anything to do with The Green Effect, M. Night Shymalan's new flick, it also is about a catastrophe involving an invasion of sorts that has something to do with plantlife and if you look at the destroyed buildings on ethanhaaswasright they seem to have something growing on them, then when you beat all the puzzles and get your password plants spring up all around the remind me box. Just a theory, it's either that or JJ Abrams wants to keep the mystery going so he's denying anything to do with these sites.... gotta say though, either way the mystery is awesome.

Crazay I think he says "I saw it, It's Alive, It's Huge".

Good observation, madmanic! That sounds like a good possibility...
Although Fox seems to be the production company behing The Happening (The Green Effect's new name), but Paramount pulled the EHWR vids from YouTube...

...the only site of ours that people have even FOUND...
Found...Lost...a clue to the mystery 'Cloverfield' by J.J.? (I love stoking this rather absurd fire.)

I was wondering where people got the idea that these sites were related to this movie. Paramount has a ton of stuff in production, so I don't see how it would necessarily be related to 1-18-08. By the way, I did an IMDb search on the character name Ethan Haas, and the only hit that came up was Jason Ritter's character on that TV show, The Class. Don't know if that's relevant...

In the trailer, the guy running by screams " I saw it, it's Alive, it's huge!!" No lions or anything else. It is not Godzilla because Godzilla would not be capable of throwing the head of the statue of Liberty. He has got those T-Rex like arms. They say its an alien invasion, but who knows. Maybe it is the smoke monster from LOST or something tied into it. Like I said in another post, maybe this movie is showing what is going on in the rest of the world before the next season of LOST begins in January....hmmmm
