E!’s Kristin Dos Santos is reporting that Jodie Foster and Hannibal’s Executive Producer Bryan Fuller were chatting at the 66th Annual Emmys on Sunday night. What could these two possibly be chatting about? How about Foster returning to the Hannibal Lector Universe? Before you start trying to figure out how an older Agent Clarice Starling would be in a pre-Buffalo Bill Hannibal story, relax. It seems the conversation was to have her direct.

Santos: “At last night's HBO Emmy party, I just so happened to overhear the genius showrunner ask the original Hannibal movie star if she would be willing to come and direct the series during its third season, which is set to begin production next week.

Jodie was noncommittal, but said she'd think it over, so...Fingers crossed, Fannibals! We'll probably never see Clarice Starling (Foster's big-screen role) on the NBC TV show, but having her behind the camera would be sort of epic in its own right, right?”

Foster is an accomplished director in her own right with films such as Little Man Tate (1991) and Home for the Holidays (1995). Recently she has begun to direct TV episodes including an episode of House of Cards and two episodes of Orange is the New Black

Hopefully, Hannibal will have Foster in the director’s chair for season 3, which begins in 2015.

Fannibals has to be the worst name for a fanbase ever.

I'm still wondering how Mel Gibson got into Jodie Foster's Beaver...
