Actress Scarlett Johansson has been tapped for Frank Miller's adaptation of the Will Eisner comic, THE SPIRIT. Gabriel Macht was already selected during Comic Con 2007 to appear as the title character, a detective who fakes his own death to fight crime. Johansson's character will be a dangerous and sexy secretary to the evil mastermind, Octopus(Samuel L. Jackson).

Plot Summary: The story centers on a detective (Gabriel Macht) who fakes his own death and fights crime from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) -- who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face -- has a different mission: he's going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader.

THE SPIRIT will hit sometime in 2009 for Lionsgate.

It is shaping up to be a good cast, but I really enjoyed Scarlett Johansson in Ghost World and Lost In Translation, before fame went to her head and she sold out and became just another media and party whore in Hollywood!!!

Yes, her career has grown and people actually like watching her. Yup, total "media and party whore" Tool

Hmmm,,,,did I miiss the party? I don't remember Scarlett being there offering to suck everyones mules and blowing coke off the back of Lindesy's ass!! Now, that would be awesome, but I dont thnk she is that type. She is a great actress who chooses decent movies, except Lost In Translation, that movie bit hard. I even liked her in Scoop.

Well, she did have a rather infamous liason with an actor on an elevator. I believe it was Adrian Brody. She has also been linked with Del Toro. So, I don't know about a party whore, but she definitely has poor taste in men. That said, I've enjoyed most of her work. I'd say that Match Point was her best...I would NEVER say Scoop. That was one of the worse films I've ever seen and she embarrassed herself in the role. Terrible acting in that movie all around. I would say she is sexy, but doesn't come across as very bright. Part of her allure I suppose. In a part like the Spirit...I'm sure she will fit right in.

First with a name like Scarlett you almost have to have something like that going on...not to mention, if it was YOU in that elevator, how bad would it REALLY be.....I'm going to say not bad at all...plus look at Adrian Brody....I don't think that he minds it at all.... Dangerous and Sexy...hmmmmm, in an elevator? Bring it. :)

Scarlett's great. Unfortunately, I don't know that from personal experience but she is a great actress who has accumulated a great body of work. Much better than contemporaries like Lohan. Double entendres intended.

"... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader." seduce, love, kill... 2 out of 3 doens't sound so bad. Nice gig. ;-)
