John Williams wins Saturn Award for SITH

John Williams' score for STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH was honored by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films at the 32nd Annual Saturn Awards on May 2. Williams received the Saturn Award for "Best Music," and the film itself won the "Best Science Fiction Film" award.

Williams was also nominated for WAR OF THE WORLDS. The other nominees were James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer for BATMAN BEGINS, Danny Elfman for CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, Patrick Doyle for HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE, and John Ottman for KISS KISS BANG BANG.

Ummm..that's great that he won an award. Good for him, really. But great music can only take a lame movie so far and this one only got half way.

This is old news but I still can't believe that Sith got such a high rating on Rottentomatoes. That's friggin' critics for you tho.

BTW: it's only fitting that 'sith' is an anagram for 'sh!t'

Well, aside from having sword duels in a sci-fi setting, and the casting of classical British actors like Alec Guinness, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Ian McDiarmid, the scores of John Williams are the only thing that bring a real sense of class to the Star Wars films (and I say this as a huge Star Wars fan), so it's fitting that he is recognised - he is THE pre-eminent film composer of his era, and his work on Star Wars will always stand as some of the greatest film music ever created.
