One thing seems certain about John Woo. The man knows all about certain caliber bullets and guns from such movie experiences as Hard Boiled and The Killer. Well, Variety's reporting that the director will be taking that and incorporating it into the 19th Century by adapting the comic book Caliber. The comic is to be revealed at next week's San Diego Comic-Con while Woo is wrapping up the editing process for his next Chinese epic Red Cliff.

"Caliber" production will be overseen by
Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil, Barry Levine's Radical Comics and Lion Rock, the U.S.-based company that Woo runs with longstanding partner Terence Chang.

Plot Concept:
Radical Comics' hit story sets King Arthur and his knights as 19th century gunslingers in the Pacific Northwest.

Nice. I love Calibur. Radical comics has a great lineup thus far. Hopefully everything works out properly. I would love that more and more independent comic properties are being optioned. There are many great titles out there.

I love classic Woo, if this can get him back to the Hardboiled/The Killer days I would love that. Don't know this comic but it sounds fun.

Issue #1 of Calibur is only $1.00 so I would check it out if you have some time. Its good.

I would also like to see a great Woo film. Overall I have enjoyed most of not all of them. But I would just like to see him make something great again. Who knows, this could be it /shrug

I still haven't checked out Caliber, so I may have to find my local comic shop and give it a shot... (finding that shop is becoming increasingly difficult, though...)

King Arthur and his knights as gunslingers? Wow, someone's been reading The Dark Tower and making mad notes...
