I didn't find it a total bomb.  The script and flow could have been cleaned up a bit.  And maybe a reason for Sinestro to want the ring.  There wasn't much build up for the two of them to form a rivalry.

Well said Bryzarro except the one part about not being a total, it all points to a big fat donkey turd who smelled so bad no one, NO ONE like it.

We all paid $$ for crap and got screwed. I'm even surprised it maide 219 million.

But, I'll be honest 219 mil. is still a lot of money but, compared to the other movies out there and their profit for thet put in, this one was not a good investment at all.

if they home DVD will sell, they got another thing coming.

"eventually"... as in, when people forget about the giant, steaming turd that was the first film.

I could have written a better movie half-a-case in the bag.

Bwah, ha, ha....apparently he didn't look at the box office receipts.

It was not a total bomb ... just average I guess ... very average ... and being a summer movie it got compared to the success of others ... I found the acting ok but the script was crap ... now you can call that a turd ... why didn't they spend more time on him learning his powers ... (like in spiderman when tobey was jumping and climbing for the first time) ... and the villains (hector and big cloud) were crap ... the CGI could have been better as well - at times the constructs had this "dark" look to it - on screen it was ugly to look at ...

Agree that DC should take some hints from Marvel - the major part being a better script

Not quite sure why a GL sequel. Movie didn't live up to the hype. Poor DC. Let's face it.........DC characters aren't as interesting as Marvel.

flinshadytoo 10/17/2011 2:40:40 PM

Hopeful, he should be! I like Johns don't get me wrong but when one writer is given so much exposure (a la Bendis at Marvel) when they hit a bum note it drags everything else down with them. GL was a mess of a movie I wanted to love it but it just reminded me of a nineties superhero movie so much when things have moved on since then, bad cgi and hokey villians don't cut it no more.

I liked it! Bring it on!!

SmokingFrog77 10/17/2011 3:15:53 PM

Have yet to see it, but saddened by all the bad press as I was really looking forward to it. A sequel would be good just because GL is such an awesome character and he deserves more than one crappy go around. Hopefully it won't drag out like the interminable wait we've had for another Superman movie. DC need to get their shit together - they have the greatest comic heroes in the universe - why is it so frackin' hard to put out decent movies - or put out movies at all? In the time that we've had Superman Returns and two Nolan Batman films, how many have Marvel put out? And no I'm not counting Watchmen or other non-mainstream-DCU titles in the comparison - I'm talking about films that could contribute to a Justice League movie.
