Johnson will play an ordinary man ....already something wrong !!!!

Santa Clause was about an ordinary man who had to step in and save Christmas & the North Pole.

Since this sucker will be directed by the man who helmed the last two of that franchise, this will the same take on another iconic folk legend. Just a film to take your kids to.

And Dwayne was successful at bouncing out of the action genre with his recent Game Plan success. He's also doing the Witch Mountain film, which is likewise set for 2009.

But I get what you're saying exfan. It's hard to make someone like Arnold S. or Dwayne look "ordinary". Arnold pulled out those roles in Twins, Junior but he still had the build of an action star.

exactly, usually huge wwf freaks failed to make comedy, but i must say vin diesel last experience with kids was watchable....

No mention of his nickname "Rock"? I barely noticed this article. He should just buy the name if that is the case. Heck I would legally change my name to "Rock" if I had to.

I guess he's going to follow Ice Cube, Vin Diesel and Eddie Murphy into the kids genre. Can't really blame him, afterall that's where the money seems to be. I still think he can pull off the action star role if he picks and chooses correctly.
And as far as the "Rock" is concerned, doesn't he has to pay the WWE if he were to use that name. At least I thought that that was the case and if so I don't blame him for dropping it.

the Rock is a good movie, michael Bay rules!

I could be wrong, but I think Dwayne owns the "Rock" name. He had to pay Vince(WWE) money from the first six movies he made/makes.

Yeah he had to pay Vince for the use of the name because Vince owns the character rights. That comes from Johnson in an interview. It wasn't until 'Gridiron Gang' that he started using Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a credit so that his movie fans would get used to his real name for when his contract with WWE ended and he would be just Dwayne Johnson. Vince was Executive Producer on all of his early movies because of the contract he had on him. Very similar to cast members of Saturday Night Live. When they go do movies you'll notice that Lorne Michaels is usually an Executive Producer on the project until the actors contract ends and they thing they can make it in the movie business.
As far as Johnson doing more family comedies... I still have a bad taste in my mouth from when Arnold did 'Jingle All The Way'. God that sucked. I just hope he doesn't make a habit of this and goes back to action movies or even action comedy. I thought that 'The Rundown' was very good.

I am a former wrestling fan and had high hopes for DJ, but his last few movies have been uninteresting garbage. He's just taking whatever crap gets flung his way.

WOW! I mean just WOW! Hurray, the strike's finally over so the writers can get back to writing movies about the TOOTH FAIRY? And you really think they deserve the money? You fools! I've yet to see them earn their money since the strike has ended! It's the same pile o' crap as before! It swings both ways, they wanted the money now they should earn it, by actually writing some original scripts that don't suck! Instead all they do is keep writing remake after remake! Heck, they should pay me for watching some of that dreck!....And if my name was Dwayne, I'd just keep paying WWE so I could call myself "The Rock"! Dwayne HAHAHA Dwayne AAHH Classic!
