Writer-director Rian Johnson (BRICK) has set a new project, LOOPER.

The time-travel thriller is set in a present-day world in which a group of hitmen are sent their victims from the future.

Ram Bergman will produce. The filmmakers look to start production in 2009.

Johnson most recently directed BLOOM, which stars Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo as brothers who may or may not be conning a wealthy eccentric, played by Rachel Weisz.

This makes the 264th time travel related film announced. Since we already have the protective custody time travel one down it makes sense that a hitmen related one would follow.

Wanted meets The 4400? Seems kind of unnecessary to have orders to kill come from the future. Sounds a bit gimmicky.
