After a year of countless viral website updates across a wide range of related websites, The Joker got in a final sinister laugh at many of the websites for The Dark Knight. Fans who follow the viral campaign were also given a treat by following this link to another page which allowed them to print up two free tickets to an IMAX screening on July 15, 2008. But if you weren't there, you're out of luck. It's sold out much like all the other screenings for the movie as Fandango has been continuing to report the last few weeks.
The villain also defaced all the other viral websites, which you can check out by clicking here.
One week remains before the highly anticipated sequel hits theaters on July 18, 2008.
Yeah...I got the email, too late. The IMAX theatre near where I live is showing TDK for 72 hrs straight starting on 6/18 @12:01. I'll catch it IMAX style @ some point.
Also, a completley unrelated side note; I know alot of Maniacs have posted that they're taking their niece/nephew or small children to TDK. I recently read a piece in TIME magazine that the reviewerthought it was so dark that it easily could've been rated R and didn't know how it got a PG-13. He stated that the movie was NOT for children under 9 yrs. old. Too scary & too violent. Just a heads up.
I'm going to agree with the "leave the kids" at home statement for this one. I saw a Cheerios commercial the other day, pimping "Batman" & "Joker" toys and thought it was very odd they were even trying to attract kids attention when this movie is definitely not geared towards them. As we fans know, this Joker is not going to be the "lovable imp" Joker from all the Batman cartoons: this is (hopefully) going to be the full, fleshed-out, comic book Joker that will do things that little kids do not need to see.

However, if you're bound and determined to take your children to see this movie, at least take them to see "Meet Dave" this weekend so that they'll be desensitized to horrific images on screen and TDK will be a nice relief for them.
The reasons for not wanting kids to go see this are purely selfish for me. I want to be in perfect harmony with my surroundings and that huge IMAX screen come the day and I need to be hearing some little kids asking mommy to go to the bathroom or who this or that person is. Someone earlier this week. I think it was Movieguy had a beef about certain people being to loud at movie theaters well, my beef is about the kids. I understand that its hard to get a babysitter but its annoying having to hear little kids whine or cry while I`m watching my flicks. They need to have like a special kids movie theater or something for that stuff.
I recruit in high schools and middle schools for a post secondary digital arts school and even as low as grade 7 kids have all seen movies like '300', the Halloween remake, etc. TDK can hardly be worse than that. Children are desensitized and are often less effected by horror and violence than most adults. Plus every kid deserves the chance to see Batman kick ass.
Pony, that is a GREAT point. Jeri, it's probably not the middle schoolers, but the younger ones; and you know they'll show up, a couple with their children aged 13, 7 and 4. And while some parents feel that their kid is accustomed to a certain level of violence, for whatever reason their child freaks out because he cannot handle a homocidal clown - and people wonder why others have Coulrophobia - and starts screaming uncontrollably. Lovely. Thanks.

Actually, thinking of how the parents just caused their children to develop Coulrophobia makes me laugh...

Ha HA ha hA ha HA hA Ha HA HA ha ha HA hA ha!!!
Yo Jarrod you need to fix this article, The film opens July 18, not July 11.

Please for the love of all that is holy don't listen to Frozen Fear's advice!! Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT!! take your children to see "Meet Dave", they don't deserve such a cruel punishment :)

Take the young ones to see DK, what better way to grow up than watching the greatest cinematic masterpiece ever created in the history of the universe?
Take the kids, the elderly, the women, the men, the teens, the gays, bisexuals, degenerates, midgets, etc. Everyone has to and will see this flick! Dark Knight owns son!

What you will witness is history in the making. Like Nadal vs. Federer in Wimbledon. You guys realize we have lived to see Gretzky, Tiger, Jordan, Federer/Nadal, Bonds(even though he's juiced up)? Now we can say we lived during the time of The Dark Knight!
I didn't even bother trying for this. There are no IMAX houses that show regular movies in the DC area. Yet. AMC is supposed to be opening up a few later this year. I, for one, can't wait!!
Yo FFT, The IMAX over toward Dulles Airport, in Chanitlly VA, about 50 mins away,is going to be showing the Dark Knight on IMAX. That's the closest one to DC, the other one is near Virginia Beach, about 2:30 away.

I don't get why the ones over on the National Mall won't show the damn movie!!!!! but they should.

You know where those new ones you are talking about are supposed to open?
