"Why So Serious?", that's what the Joker (Heath Ledger) would be asking you! Fellow maniacs Hanso and Michael X. Maelstrom would agree! The latest banner for the upcoming Dark Knight has appeared online, courtesy of Batman-on-Film. To check it out, click the pic on the left, fellow Maniacs. The sequel to Batman Begins stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. Christopher Nolan was once again behind the camera, based on a screenplay that he penned alongside brother Jonathan.

Plot Summary: "The Dark Knight" reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman's war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.

The Dark Knight will hit standard and IMAX theaters July 18, 2008.

This is just my third most anticipated for the year after IronMan and Hulk, under a normal year it would be my first. Funny because I would rather read a Bats comic more than any other solo superhero. I'm actually more excited about Bat's current R.I.P. arc than I am about the film.

What I would like to know is if they're ever going to make that 5 min. film they showed with Iam Legend on I-Max available for everyone to see or are we going to have to wait for the dvd. Seems bush-league to me to keep it from everyone that didn't go to an I-Max.

Wiseguy: I think that whole bit is in the movie. In the trailer, it shows a bunch of clips from the snippit (the goons rapelling from the rooftop into the bank, the two goons and a masked joker barging into the bank's front door). I don't think it's any sort of special feature hat will be saved for the DVD.

I was under the impression that it wasn't part of the movie. Hope you're correct in which case I withdraw my little rant up there. Thanks for the info

Wiseguy - What they showed in Imax with I Am Legend was the first 6-7 minutes of "The Dark Knight" movie. Those 6 mins will also be available to on the Batman Begins blu ray edition coming out a week before "The Dark Knight".
Anyway, those first 6 mins they showed will be there opening night, and they play an important role in kick startin the Joker's storyline.

So save your rant damn it! I will allow it cause I know you upset the C's couldn't close out again. Home sweet home for them i guess.

hanso, my brotha like no otha, it takes a fan to understand the frustration I'm feeling. It's starting to feel like the dominant year they had, especially against the west was for naught. Well hope springs eternal so I have my fingers and toes crossed. I see your boys are one step closer, good for you.

Glad those 6 min. are part of the film, I was starting to feel like I was being cheated out of a birthright.

I hope Ledger blows everyone away and gets an Oscar, just from the previews his performance is startling. Like Miller's Joker, or beating Robin to death with a crowbar Joker. Frakin' awesome. They're going to have a hell of a time with the third one now. I still say Paul Bettany would be a good candidate, but he might not be similar enough in appearance.

It's all good Wiseguy. I noticed the other day that the clip was pulled from Youtube, and I was beginning to get a little pissed as well. I only got to see it once, and was jonsing to see it again.

Comeon People! Just cuz the guys dead doesn't all of a sudden make him a great actor. Cuz he wasn't. I have nothing personal against the guy he was just miscast and it'll ruin the whole film, but for that i blame Nolan! D@#$ YOU NOLAN! D@#$ YOU TO HELL! One of these, one of these days Pow right in the kisser!
