Director Jon Favereau had a message for fans via his MySpace Blog in which he updated progress on the upcoming film, Iron Man.

"We are done with the first week of photography. I am happy to report that the ten months of preparation allowed the extremely challenging first week of photography to come off without a hitch. The look is fantastic and the performances are great as well. Downey was definitely the right choice.

I'm looking forward to getting out of the "cave." The first few weeks of shooting are spent, somewhat in sequence, establishing Stark's captivity. It sets the table tonally for the rest of the film. The close quarters and tight schedule make it the toughest part of the shoot on the cast and crew."

KJ's Take:  Yar!!! This movie is gonna rock.  Good sign that he likes Downey.

I have a lot of expectation on that movie, I must say more than star trek. That s Iron man it s everybody, like batman, even worst because he have heart problem...Once he wear his armor, he become so powerfull, it s not so far from hulk. They can t screw this movie, they simply have no rigth....

I love Ironman, he is the flawed superhero. He drinks, he has health problems, inner demons, and an ego that has him sometimes making questionable decisions. He is everything Marvel is about. Hopefully this transfers well to the big screen. I am excited about the cast and the passion Favreu is showing. Here's hoping shellehead rocks 2008.

I can deal with Snorty McCoke as Tony Stark, but Gweneth Paltrow as Pepper is such piss poor casting that it really puts a damper on the film.

This sounds like its coming along pretty well and its definitely one of the movies I have high hopes for. Downey is such a good actor and he has a great supporting cast.
I have to say even though they are different universes, I like Iron Man alot less after the whole Civil War situation. He is such a douche.
Besides that Shellhead will Rock next year!

I am still trying to get used to Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark. Sure they both have their "inner demons".

It just always looked like to me that Robert was wearing eye make-up. Eye-liner perhaps?

I love Downey. I've got respect for Favereau--mad respect even. This flick will be absolutely awesome, barring any f**k-ups.

I can't wait to see footage from this movie. I like the cast (and I think Paltrow will be just fine as Pepper) and Favereau really seems to want to make a movie that will not only be successful, but be accepted by comic fans. I like when directors are not just interested in making THEIR vision of the character, but want to respect established canon.
