Josh Friedman recently talked with CHUD about Fox's upcoming TV show THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, a Terminator themed series.

The show will revolve around Connor and her savior son, John Connor. The series will explore what happened to Sarah Connor after the end of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, when the character went on the run.

"I would like to be able to explore as many different avenues of Terminator mythology as possible," said Friedman. "I think to do a show that is a completely Terminator-less environment would probably not be, in the long run, a wise move or the most interesting thing."

He continues by saying, "I would say it's going to be a hybrid. It'll be somewhere in between it's not going to be a Terminator of the week show, but it's also not going to be soap opera."

If they're smart, they should have two parallel stories: 1) focus on Sarah & John on the run 2) Show the development of Skynet. I'm sorry - the explanation of skynet's return in T3 was absolute shite, I would've loved the movie if it centered around the development of skynet following the events of T2. Maybe develop the story so we see skynet as a learning "child", being cute at times, but as it learns more and more about the world, it begins to view man as an irrational and destructive force, thus putting out there it's reason to destroy mankind...to simply survive. And you can show the terminators in development at Norad or some sh!t and have "dreams" of the future where we see terminators we've never seen before like the T-1,000,000 and the ones Kyle talked about in T1. This show could be good, if done right....

Or, you can take a page from the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, and start every show with a scene from John's future, during the war (this is where we see the terminators) and through narrative he mentions something about how this reminds him of the time he was with his mother. The show would then start from there, 10 years before or some junk. See, it's not so hard if you have the right people throwing ideas out there ^_^

awesome can't wait for this. I want to see a story about what happend after T2. I'll definately watch it and enjoy. Terminator series was awesome . I hope T4 if it ever comes out takes place totally in the future with the struggles between the machines and the surviving humans. Rease 041028 ..... Bring back Michael Bein.

They better bring back Bein or I'm boycotting!! Hehe, unless some really cool sh!t goes down in T4 :p

And is it just me, or did T3 leave the impression that John STILL wasn't ready to lead the mankind into war...just a thought....

I think I'd like just one terminator, and he might or might not be in every episode but he keeps her and John on the move, kinda like the guy chasing after Bigsby in The Hulk TV show. Saying that, I think the terminator, should just keep on comin, and it will not stop until John is DEAD. Just like the first one.

I hate when shows and such deviate from the original mythos, I say no stalking terminators in the series - it'd be more effective if they were present in dream sequences (and then we could get better action from it too) or if we see them in the future-present as eye candy just before we go back in time to watch Sarah's story. I partially agree with Browbeat, the future war should be gritty like the first movie - the war presented in T3 was too clean for me.. I didn't feel the peril so much. If they do another trilogy, I think the advanced models should be presented in the 2nd and 3rd movies (I wrote a big spiel about this before on this site). If they just do one movie (which in my eyes would be a bad move because this war is supposed to span years if not decades), they should show up in the end. But I honestly don't see why a future Skynet wouldn't send weapons back in time TO THE FUTURE WAR and to advance itself at an exponential rate...we could see some really cool sh!t being brought along to stop the resistance. It would be something that would 1-up the other films, and hey, that's not necessarily a bad thing...remember, T2 started this bigger and better thing to begin with ;)

If the title is "The Sarah Conner Chronicles" then they could do episodes about her between T1 and T2 and T2 and T3. I agree that dream sequences of the future war would be the best way to show the terminators. I like the idea of showing the rubber skinned terminators mentioned in T1. I think a terminator made of gas, as originally planned for T3, would be awesome. I hope that they make at least 2 more terminator movies, since the future war lasts about 30 years. As far as what the series itself should be about, they could show Sarah teaching John how to fight, storing the weapons seen in T3, the U.S. government hunting the two and experimenting further with terminator technology left over from the destruction of the first 2 T-101's. The last episode could be about Sarah's death.
