Julian McMahon has revealed to iF Magazine that he will be back as Dr. Doom for the FANTASTIC FOUR sequel.

Though McMahon will be back in some form, he is not sure of his exact role in the film.

"We haven't got a script yet. The script hasn't been put out and I'm not going to start until the end of August or September. Right now, I'm literally every day, 16 hours a day on Nip/Tuck... I don't think there is going to be as many prosthetics. That was tough. I would rather not do it again, but at the same time, I've signed up to do what I need to do."

The FANTASTIC FOUR sequel is set to release on June 15, 2007. The rumored title for the film is FANTASTIC FOUR AND THE SILVER SURFER.

I enjoyed the 1st one. It wasn't a great flick, but it was pretty entertaining. I know that we expect more than that, but hopeully with the addition of the Surfer, it will be a great flick. I liked Fantastic Four when I was a kid and collected it, but when Marvel went up to like 2.25 a book, they were the first to go. Some of the stories were kind of boring after awhile.

I loved the first Fantastic Four movie. It was really a great film, and other then the changes made to Doom's backstory/powers it was very faithful to the FF comic. On top of that Michael Chiklis and Chris Evans were dead on perfect as ben and Johnny. The only weak link in the film was McMahon was Doom. He didn't have the presence or the voice for a character like Doom. I was really hoping he'd be recast for Part II. I'd prefer they go the Darth Vader route in Part II. Get a big stunt man in the suit, and later have an actor with a strong voice (Clancy Brown, maybe) dub in the dialogue. There is no need for Doom to even take off the mask.

I couldn't bring myself to see FF in theaters and I have still yet to see it. Maybe I'll cave sometime.

Anyway, I agree with narpin, Dr. Doom is reminiscent of Darth Vader and should carry a strong menacing voice.

with an accent

Narpin, you are right on the money. McMahon/Doom was the weakest link (and IMO the downfall) of the first movie. The Vader treatment, with an eastern European accent, would improve Doom's character tremendously. While McMahon is sufficiently condescending (read: arrogant prick) in every role I have seen him play, he comes off less regal and more smarmy as Doom.

If McMahon doesn't want to do Doom again they should just shitcan him because he was one of the weaker parts of the film. Hopefully he'll have a very small role in part two; maybe he'll find the surfer and turn him against the FF for awhile. I've liked McMahon since his "Profiler" days, but he just wasn't right for Doom.

I'm really looking forward to FF2, because while FF was flawed, it was fun seeing the characters I grew up with on the big screen.

I feel the same way about Ghost Rider just the thrill of seeing him ride the HellCycle of the side of the skyscraper is worth the price of admission. But, on a side note there was an issue of SS's own comic whrere Doom steals the Surfer's powers, that may be where they're going with the story.

Surfer lands on Earth and Doom finds him first. Turns the Surfer on FF. FF convince Surfer they're the good guys. Surfer helps the FF take down Doom. Uatu shows up to warn them. Enter Galactus and then the credits.

I`m thinking that Doom will play less of a major role than that. It maybe him that we see at the end rather than Galactus. Galactus and earth's imminent destruction by his hands will probably be more of the focal point of the movie.

Yes Mcmahon was the "weak" part of the first film. Not the bad writing, cheesy story, bad acting of the rest of the cast, terrible effects, need i go on. First one sucked, second one will as well.
