Former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" vampire has co-starred in "Dexter", Rambo and Punisher: War Zone. Variety reports that she's now set to lead Saw V for Lionsgate. David Hackl---the production designer behind the second, third and fourth film---will serve as the director, based on a screenplay by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Producers are Mark Burg and Oren Koules while executive producers are Peter Block, Jason Constantine, Daniel Heffner, Stacey Testro, Leigh Whannell and James Wan. Filming began on March 17.
I'm really glad things are goin well for Benz. She was one of my fav characters on Buffy n Angel, and her body of work keeps on getting better. Good on her i say :)......i'm tired.
I had no plans to see this, because I'm tired of the Saw series, but I'll see it now because Benz is in the film. She's a talented, underused, beautiful actress. I'm hoping to see more of her on the big screen.
That was my first thought too, chirop1!
Anyway, I'm a little bored with the Saw franchise, and I've only seen the first two. The first one was amazing. The second was meh. I'll probably watch the 3rd on cable or Netflix eventually.
Oh, and Benz is great in Dexter!
If it's Halloween it's SAW!! I wonder how many of them they will end up making.
They keep getting worse, and if Jigsaw isn't in them I don't want to see it. Jigsaw's flashbacks in the last one were the best thing of the movie in my humble opinion. They should eventually do a prequel if they will continue making these films.
I have to agree with most people on here...it's nice to see Julie Benz getting more work. Also I feel that the franchise has run it's course unless they plan on making it two sets of trilogies, one being w/Jigsaw and the other with his new apprentice.
The last Saw film was a crap fest excuse to drag the already done and over with story on for more money. "MOOOOO" says the cash cow, "MOOOO!"
And now after my disappointment, and my vowing to only see the next installment on home video (or FREE!)...they go and hire one of my favorite actresses from the Buffyverse...damn them! They knew just how to suckle me back into those overpriced theater seats.
