It is refreshing to know that this summer there will be something original at the box office. Here is the second official trailer for the Wachowski’s JUPITER ASCENDING. The film arrives courtesy of Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures.

Synopsis: From the streets of Chicago to the far-flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” tells the story of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), who was born under a night sky, with signs predicting she was destined for great things.  Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks.  Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

JUPITER ASCENDING features Channing Tatum (“Magic Mike”) and Mila Kunis (“Oz the Great and Powerful”) lead an international cast that also includes Sean Bean (“The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy), Eddie Redmayne (“Les Misérables”), Douglas Booth (“LOL”), Tuppence Middleton (TV’s “The Lady Vanishes”), Doona Bae (“Cloud Atlas”), James D’Arcy (“Hitchcock”) and Tim Pigott-Smith (“Alice in Wonderland”).

It still looks good. Hope it is. Will definitely check it out.

Looks like fun...the only turn off for me, is the strange fascination with royalty that so many are cursed with, maybe it's the way I was raised as a natural born American citizen but I've always found the notion of Kings and Queens and Princesses to be a vile and disgusting thing even when they are portrayed as kind and benevolent rulers.

CalamityJohnson 3/26/2014 8:38:07 PM

agreed... this fascination with royalty is still even imbedded in our culture with the zeal our citizens put into hollywood actor/actress (Bennifer, Brangelina, etc etc) worship... and even past "suave" political figures and their families. No king/queen? No problem, we'll just put that energy into US and People magazine and twirl the gossip aisle before purchasing our weekly gallon of milk.

But, I'll see this movie regardless. Looks unique and original and aside from my dislike for the leading actress, I'll go in hoping for the best.

If things keep going the way they are we'll have a King and Queen ruling over us in the USA in no time. All Hail King Obama!

Enough political rantings...

This looks good except for Channing Tatum. I like the guy and he's good for certain roles, but IMO, not even eyeliner will work for this guy!

Sounds interesting.....but will probally rent this one.

For reasons I can't explain I hate Mila Kunis.....maybe not hate but totally and completely dislike

Still checking this out though

Yeah fuck that royalty bs. I don't understand why people keep these traditions especially in countries where it's by choice and only for cosmetics

I am gonna pass on this one.  I can't stand Tatum or Kunis.  When you listen to Tatum talk IRL he sounds like he just stepped out of the ghetto.  The story just doesn't look that good, the only positive this movie has going for it is Sean Bean.

Looks like a rental to me unless the buzz becomes so overwhelming that I'm forced to hit this up in the theater.

Royalty sucks, but growing up in the USSR was far worse than any current monarchy.

"Magic Meg"

I won't go to see this for the actors (neithr of whom I care for), but the sci-fi aspect looks pretty damn epic.

For some reason, the storyline seems to remind me of DUNE.
