Jurassic Park 4 Director Found!

From the director of Safety Not Guaranteed

By Robert T. Trate     March 14, 2013
Source: Collider.com

Early last year director Collin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) teased fans that he was in talks to helm a beloved franchise. Many fans, not this one mind you, thought that beloved franchise to be Star Wars. Well we all know who is directing that next installment. Today, Deadline and Collider are reporting that Trevorrow will be directing the next Jurassic Park film.

Producer Frank Marshall tweeted the news (@LeDoctor):

“Thrilled to have director on JP4, Colin Trevorrow, an exciting young filmmaker who understands and respects the world that is Jurassic Park.”

Jurassic Park 4 is scripted by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes).  Frank Marshall is producing with Patrick Crowley, and Steven Spielberg is executive producer.

The original Jurassic Park is scheduled for a 3D re-release on April 5th, 2013.

Safety Not Guaranteed is currently available on Netflix Streaming as well DVD and Blu-ray. I highly recommend checking out the film.

Yeah, really need a good story for this to work. 3 was crap.

Well that sucks. I was really hoping for Jurassic Park with lens flare...

3 was bad... and you don't mention the dunghole that was 2? yes, both were subpar, but 2 was the worst kind of trash hollywood spews.... and proof spielberg is mortal

2 would have been fine if they would have used the source material instead of dropping the main character and only having one scene in the entire movie being from the book.  That scene was pretty good, everything else was just weird.  3 was fun but had a horrible ending and just ended to quickly.  They probabaly should have had a finished script before they started filming.  I want this movie to be so great.

Not sold on this.  The only thing of merit this guy has done so far is Safety Not Guaranteed, which was basically nothing more than a slightly better than average rom-com.  The franchise needed a director that has proven his ability to make smart, mature, and fun science fiction.  Alfonso Cuaron, Neill Blomkamp, or Matthew Vaughn would have been much better choices.  Oh well... he can't be worse than Joe Johnston's Jurassic Park III or even Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park II... right?!?

I thought this got shitcanned.  Like four times.  I guess this just means that by summertime we'll be reading about it being shitcanned a fifth time.

Err, way to go Universal Pictures. It's been what...a dozen years since Jurassic Park was on the silver screen? Way to shoot for the skies with your directorial choice! Have to agree with the above comments. I can totally seeing this being shitcanned back to development hell now. Universal, if you want to make an event out of Jurassic Park returning to the silver screen, try getting a director who's IMDB list doesn't have just one feature film under his belt...

@jarrodSarafin, try twenty year mate.

Saw it for the second time on holiday at a cinema in St. Ives Cronwall. My brother in law was about 9 and it scared him to death. He had all the toys up to that point but wouldn't touch them after seeing the film.

Give us a good story and I'll be there in the queue.

wrrlykam, I think Jarrod was referring to the last time a Jurassic Park movie came out, which was Jurassic Park 3 which was 2001.
